I think it's been mentioned above but to reiterate please reverse whatever was done to the thread titles(bolding etc) which now makes it impossible to tell which threads are read or unread.

I see many threads without any new content listed in bold or prioritized in order on my thread subscription list, then when I click the link to go to the thread, the last post is the same one that was there hours ago, or yesterday.

??? What is the issue?

The same issue that Schwann and bocastephen described more succinctly in posts 72 and 76. I thought it fixed itself last week for about a day, but it still persists on both mobile and desktop for me. Logging out and logging in again didn't resolve it when I tried about an hour ago.

ETA: When I loaded the subscriptions page again after making the above post, I noticed that this thread and the Cloudflare thread were no longer bold, but two others below it on my list still were.

Second edit (an hour later): I went back and clicked on all bolded threads, and when I reloaded my subscription page, they were no longer bold. So, it's possible that all is good now. However, I wouldn't bet the farm on this.

The "Remove Format" button in Quick Reply only gets rid of bold/underline/italicized/strikethrough formatting. I pasted some external text that was larger, and it does not fix the size. Not sure if this is expected functionality.

If this occurs again, can you navigate to one of the bolded threads and see if there's a "View First Unread Post" button?

I am going to guess it is semi-expected. Since the text editor doesn't have a font size option built in (although you can insert the code manually), it's not trying to remove formatting that it cannot perform to begin with.

That's what I figured; thanks for clarifying. Maybe this could be added as a future enhancement (along with dark mode ).

It did start happening again after I posted yesterday. This thread itself is one of the problem threads, as are "Current China Entry Policy" and "Best VPN for China" (both in the China forum and hard to miss). Where would I find the "View First Unread Post" button? I think I've seen it in the past but never bothered using it (I typically go straight to the last page).

Dunno if we want to start a new thread for today's enhancements, but the dropdown menus at the top of [some, but not all threads] aren't working, i.e. 'Thread Tools", "Search this Thread", and "Rate Thread".

Possibly the same root cause, if you are on the "My Profile" page, none of the dropdown menus across the top work.

i.e. www.flyertalk.com/forum/members/YOURNAME.html (substitute your handle, or anyone else's I would guess, or click on the menu by your name and then My Profile)

the menus across the top for Community, Wiki Posts, Search, and Quick Links are dead. As with the above report, they get underlined when you hover over them, but nothing happens when you click on them.

Which is bizarre because the same menus work on other pages, e.g. https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/trending.php

you would think it would be the same code everywhere?

Yes, I would, but I have already reported that double-clicking the globe next to a forum on MyFlyerTalk page will mark all threads in that forum as read--except for the Technical Support and Feedback forum. Apparently it's the same code everywhere, except when it's not.

Wow, yeah, that's pretty dumb. I'll report, thank you

This seems to be resolved now .

Nobody asked for new smileys (and if they did, they were mistaken).

Please bring back the old ones https://web.archive.org/web/20070701....com/frown.gif

Thanks. Clicking that button DOES seem to resolve the issue, and I suppose I could get used to it. But, why not restore the pre-upgrade functionality in which scrolling to the most recent posts unbolds threads?
