should you be switched to mobile view, simply click on this link and you will be reset. Credit goes to @Zorak . Thanks!!

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prof...ons&styleid=24

A possible solution for the opposite, cellphone switched to desktop view, and can't switch back to mobile view, is this link:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prof...ons&styleid=22

However, there could be collateral consequences, as discussed in Post # 72, which also provides an alternative solution.

Same thing happened to me recently, and have now bookmarked this thread. Android on Samsung S22

But, now instead of opening to My Subscribed thread (my bookmarked "Home" MyFlytertalk for FT) in normal usual way, it opens with the Control Panel expanded at the top (instead of panel aalomg left side) and the thread list below. Then thread posts are all oversized compared to the right panel and the Reply box - which even when I pinch-zoom to reduce don't go back as small as they used to be and the VIEW MOBILE SITE is a huge green button at bottom of page.

Probably a user (as in me) issue but I haven't changed any settings and can't figure out how to get back to how it used to be. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Weird. Not sure what link you used, but clearing cookies should log you out and bring you back to the default.

Okay, I got it back to normal - clicked on the settings for the browser to see about clearing cookies and there was option for Desktop site. Clicked that, and all good. No idea what I did to begin with ... LOL

Unhappy Chromebooks (laptops) are misclassified, forced into Mobile view and can't exit

Hi!

I'm a ChromeOS fan, pretty much every device I use is a Chromebook. But very recently, the forum config here changed and treats ChromeOS devices as if they are mobile devices (which, they're not).

Can you please fix the logic to treat Chromebooks as actual computers, or at least add a method to exit Mobile view?

Personally, I really hate mobile view, even on mobile. It removes a lot of useful info, and makes it difficult to navigate posts. But now the "never use mobile view" feature also appears to be broken.

Thanks!

I regularly use a Chromebook to read FT and am not forced to use the mobile skin. IME once in a blue moon I end up in the mobile view after I use Google to search for site:flyertalk.com plus some search term and the indexed page for whatever reason is the mobile view.

You can switch back by clicking here:

https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prof...ons&styleid=24

and setting your view back to "Use Forum Default"

or append ?styleid=24 or &styleid=24 to any FT URL in the browser bar (depending on whether it already has any CGI params)

Chrome 105.0.5195.102 display issues

My apologies if this is already addressed but I didn't find anything. A couple days ago using Chrome version listed in title the display layout of Flyertalk went to a very basic, almost looks like should be a mobile display. If I load Flyertalk into Edge it looks normal. What happened with Chrome and any way to fix the display layout? Very frustrating trying to switch between forms and jump to end of a thread as new posts are last in the list where as have always been in reverse order with newest at top for me. I am unable to do anything about the Chrome version as it is corporate managed on this laptop and they don't like us using other browsers.

I moved your post here, as it's most likely what you're experiencing. Please see the wiki and it should help resolve the problem.

Thanks for this info and the link to reset it back to normal! I just had the same problem after coming to the forum via Google.

Is it possible to just nuke the whole stupid ?styleid thing? I find this is happening more and more often lately with links I follow from Google, and the only way to fully reset it on mobile* is to clear cookies, which then requires signing in again...

It doesn't consume a massive amount of time, but each time it happens, it's another minute of my life wasted for a "feature" that doesn't add any value.

*Using ?styleid=22 does reset it to mobile version, but after doing that, requesting desktop mode does not work unless and until cookies are cleared. It will just show an oddly proportioned version of the mobile site

I'm not quite sure what you mean by nixing the styleid, but in the mobile menu, you should now see an option to switch to the desktop mode and then if you do that, you get an option to go back to the mobile site at the bottom of the page.

If anyone is reading this in mobile mode against their volition, you can click on this direct link to the desktop version of the "Edit Options" page: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/prof...ons&styleid=24 where you can change the Forum Skin (2nd item under "Miscellaneous Options" near the bottom) to "Use Forum Default"
Thank you!
