FlyerTalk has the ability to add (or remove) members to an Ignore List, so you are relieved of reading their posts.
Ignore only works at the post level; it will not block an Ignored member's post if it is being quoted by a non-ignored member, nor will it block threads started by a member of your Ignore list - you will see the thread, but the first post will not be readable.
Adding a member to the Ignore list will not block PM / Private Messages or e-mails from them.
(We'd advise being conservative with this, because you may deprive yourself of valuable information at times.)

HOW TO EDIT / ADD A MEMBER TO YOUR IGNORE LIST
- In desktop browser mode:
- Go to My FlyerTalk (leftmost option in your blue Menu Bar). In the Settings and Options subhead in Your a Control Panel (left hand menu column) select Edit Ignore List to add (or remove) member handles.
- OR, click on a member's User ID (in blue) in any of the forum threads and a menu will appear; click on "View Public Profile" to go to their profile page. On the profile page, below their username, there will be two dropdown menus: "Send Message" and "User Lists". Click on "User Lists" and then "Add to Ignore List"
- In either desktop or mobile browser mode:
- OR, if you are signed in, you can use this "express" link to edit your Ignore List (the first method under "desktop browser mode" simply takes you to this link)

I definitely understand if the ignoring the thread ignores the comments in it by other users. I don't see what else would be possible. It would still be helpful in avoiding these trainwrecks.

Ignore list.
I was finally forced to put someone on my ignore list.
This works reasonably well, but it still shows the ignored person ignored on the last post of a thread.
It would be much easier to ignore without this knowledge.

The reason the person's handle still shows up as making the last post in a thread is that, as much as you might wish
, you didn't obliterate the person by placing them on your ignore list. They still exist for everybody else's viewing pleasure...you just chose not to personally see their commentary.
This is not an item that, IMO, TB has much control over. Perhaps it might be better switched to Technical Issues so that the HOM's/IB staff can weigh-in. Perhaps there's something with this or an upcoming edition if the vBullletin software that drives this board which may address your issue.

Can somebody clarify, please:
I'm seeking to ignore threads started by Poster A.
It seems that 'ignore user' works when Poster A starts the thread (e.g. 1 post) but that thread will appear once a different poster replies.
As long as Poster A gets a reply, I will see every single one of these threads which get a response.
(I'll have a look for the thread about ignoring threads, but I don't think that feature is switched on yet..)
Is the 'ignore thread' feature running yet, so I can customise my viewing experience, free from a few annoying threads? [Asking generally - for info purposes...]

Just to add, I checked a very popular thread and it shows the 'ignore user' feature is working for posts, not started by people on my list.
If I find an answer to my question elsewhere I'll let you know here. TIA.

People on my ignore list that aren't on my ignore list
I was surprised to note that one I was unable to read one member's posts because they are allegedly on my "ignore" list. I don't have anyone on my ignore list (although there a couple people I consciously ignore - but that's another story
). I went to MyFlyerTalk to check and indeed there is no one on it.

Actually, he isn't on your "ignore" list. The note you saw is what he typed in the post.
Try quoting his post & you'll see it's the text you can copy/quote.
edit: Oops.. hope this doesn't make me your little stalker. I was just reading that thread; clicked "new posts" and saw this.
