I've experienced multiple forms of this last week or so - posting (the post seems to get done anyway), but it's been minor - the post / PM / AMP makes it and things move on, unlike the same message we get when the system crashes with a database hash.

1. Not counting scheduled maintenance, FT seems to have database error constantly all year round.
2. Those database error hiccups normally go away within minutes, with 1 or 2 clicks of browser refresh.
3. and the bolded quote above from IBobi. (Sad, isn't it? needed technical assistance the tech team doesn't know what or how to provide)
What ticked me off to report the RBP w/ database error this time was because it took me 4 attempts and still a no-go for one RBP last week.
I am no techie but there's just something very wrong with FT servers/mainframe/whatever-it-should-call all along when the site is not down but the system sends out "database error" messages during FTers normal browsing sessions for no good reasons at all.

It's been an ongoing (minor) issue for me this year and the years before. And I am not alone:
I didn't brother taking time to report this before because:

I'm not the tech team, FYI -- I'm the liaison to them, and it is ME who doesn't know what they might be able to do. But as I said, it's been reported and they're looking into it. I'll let you know what they find.

Additional Notes: on "Database Error" reports.
- This is the first time tech is alerted to "db error" condition
- There have been absolutely 0 alerts of any issue from any internal and external monitoring systems
If possible, at the time when Database Error message is displayed - please "View Source Code" on your browser and copy/paste the output of the error.

I am surprise to learn you tech guys got zero alert when the database error messages popped up. You are saying the users ran into problems with the site, but the system failed to signal the errors to the proper party when the error message showed, "The www.flyertalk.com forum technical staff have been notified of the error, though you may contact them if the problem persists." Man, the FT system may be much broken than I had imagined.

I don't have one to report today. Not yet. I'll post the source code when I run into the next episode. FYI: you may refer to the OP for the wording of the error message for the moment being.

Updated: Detailed transaction logging has been enabled to capture a possible error condition. Thanks.

Is it just me, or are these getting more common? I'm used to seeing them, and it's usually a fairly transient issue... I maybe refresh a page several times and it's gone. Recently it seems like it's been happening more frequently, and for longer durations... like yesterday (Apr 8) it was down for a while even trying to browse the FT homepage or various forums.
Good to know I should try and grab the page source next time, which I will do... anybody else having issues with this recently?

I kept getting database error for hours starting about twenty hours ago. I finally gave up, although I did wonder whether I had missed a "down for maintenance" announcement given the timing of the outage around midnight in some USA time zone.
