I received it for about 15 minutes late morning/early afternoon today, but only when accessing the main forums page.

data base error when posting, followed by you just posted this message

Today when (instant) posting in the UA forum, I hit submit reply and got the data base error message. Using the back button fortunately found my text still there, so I tried submit reply again. At that point, I got the page with a box saying that I just has posted the same message a few seconds ago. Clicking to go back to the thread showed that indeed my post was fine.

I assume this was just a timing issue, with my post having been submitted just before some weird instantaneous data base problem. Then when FT tried to show me the last page of the thread with my post, the data base error prevented the page from loading.

Close, no cigar -- a "database error" with vBulletin almost always means a failure to connect to the backend database (MySQL) server and not an error in the database itself. Just keep retrying occasionally until it works, then check for double posts.

I saw hundreds (maybe thousands) of them when I ran several vBulletin sites, never actually had a corrupted database.

Failed RBPs with database error...

I got the database error warning when trying to send RBP in a destination forum about 15 minutes ago. All four attempts (within minutes) failed, meanwhile browsing and posting on FT was/is fine.

What gives? Don't want to send another, possibly failed again, RBP on the same thread.

Most of them have usually gone through anyway, even with that error message. If you try to repeat the RBP immediately you can get confirmation (usually) that it went through.

Well, no, I don't get confirmation of successful submission at all. If I re-RPB immediately, I only get the "the system asks you to wait 30 seconds blah blah blah" canned warning. That doesn't tell me if it went through. It just simply confirms I did hit the "submit" button seconds ago. I have no way of knowing what goes through or what not.

And for the sake of clarity, if my RBPs did get through, why the h*ll am I getting the database error warning at all?

Just like if I make a phone call and the call does get through, I am not supposed to hear the disconnection beep tone. If I successfully make the call and finish the intended conversation, the system shouldn't announce, "your call did not go through, please try again later", by the end of my call, should it? Am I really that technically challenged by FT?

It has been happening quite often in the last couple of months, especially when I am sending RBPs. To say the least, I am not a happy camper, amongst all the tech stunts IB has made FT performs on us.

I've reported this to tech. This is the only report of this behavior I've seen, so I'm not sure what they can do.

Well, I would say that this behavior happens multiple times a week for me.
