Proposal: Count Coupon Connection Posts in Post Counts
I would like to request that the Talkboard recommend that Coupon Connection posts count in member post counts.
Currently, they do not. Based off previous discussions, it would seem appropriate.
I appreciate your consideration of this request.

Could you summarize the reasons you believe Coupon Connection should be included in post counts? I see no reason why "YHPM" should count as a post, but I would love to be enlightened.

I can't summarize wharvey's reasoning, but I can offer one of my own.
I see consistency as the biggest issue. Your point about "YHPM" posting is a valid one, but we currently count any number of similar posts in other forums. Why should we treat posts in Coupon Connection any different than OMNI or the TB Topics forum, or any of the Support & Services forums, and so on? If we are going to count them in one place then we should count them everywhere. If we think that certain posts in certain forums don't further the "FT cause", then lets develop some set standards to apply. And then apply them across the board, not just in one forum.
Note that this is a completely different issue of whether posts in OMNI, TB Topics, Support & Services, etc should or shouldn't count. Right now they do and CC posts don't. And the question is why the difference?

Or perhaps do the opposite and make all posts in the peripheral fora not count in post totals.

Based on the recent vote, I would expect that all posts should count.
I am all about consistency.

Good point and I tend to agree.
No reason we should be singling out CC from the rest of the forums.

I think CC was singled out to get rid of CC only posters that were using it to run a small business
.
By removing the post counts access to that forum was lost by a lot of those people.
BUT, I could be wrong about that - it was a looong time ago.

I think were confusing two issues here.
The OP was inquiring as to why posts in CC do not count in the members post total.
The issue of requiring 90 posts and 90 days on FT to access CC is another subject.
Or am I confusing you with my confusing answer to this otherwise non-confusing thread??

IIRC, the change was made retroactively to remove CC posts from members post totals and not have new posts count going forward. This was independant of the 90/90 rule and, the goal, was to get rid of CC only posters using FT as a source for their business.
Those users may be gone now, and I can't see any reason they shouldn't count again for those meeting the access requirements.

I see no reason to take issue with future Coupon Connection posts counting in member's post counts.

Although I almost never enter the CC forum, I agree that it should not be the victim of ghettoisation!!!!
