So if TB is going to solicit opinions from the membership, then state that the opinions expressed by those members don't represent the opinion of the membership, why bother soliciting input from the membership in the first place?
Perhaps TB should just make all these decisions behind closed doors and just let us know what they've decided. It would be much easier and faster
Please help me reconcile these statements.

please don't feel like your input is unwelcome or useless here
my mind has been set since 2008

There have been cases in which TB members have an established opinion on a subject and changed that opinion based on arguments posted during the voting period.

What's to reconcile? TB members are welcoming input but may have already made their mind up on certain topics such as this one.
What's the alternative? TB members not following their own beliefs or opinions and only following what the majority of respondents to a motion discusson thread say they want?

I don't think OMNI posts should count.

Do you actually expect things to be fixed? There have been countless issues with FT over the past two years, such as members not receiving email updates, chat going down for extended periods of time, database errors, and the failed implementation of a replacement for FT Premium. Time after time, IB comes on to say that they'll get back to us. After a few months pass, and people start to get annoyed with IB, they come back for a brief time, while things stay the way they were on day 1 of the problem.
How about working on things to improve FT, instead of wasting time debating whether or not OMNI should count? It seems that most TBers have already made up their minds on the issue, despite overwhelming support by the community to keep things the way they are.

We really have almost 500 posts debating what counts in a meaningless post count tag on someone's name...I could care less but thought this had already been settled a long time ago. Then this morning I literally laughed out loud when I saw that now we're going to debate and vote on what makes up a games forum. What's next, settling the old conundrum over how many angels fit on the head of a needle? Or whether the chicken or egg came first?
I'm sorry but I don't get why, especially in 2012, it takes such an ordeal of having a board, debating, voting, to make some modifications to an internet forum. Or if so, why not focus that process on substantive things as FriendlySkies and others suggest, rather than post counts or even whether to establish a new forum for such-and-such program.

It's coming up to try to fix what the membership considers a wrong by the old CD, Randy Petersen, in 2008. The reasons were stated numerous times, and the games threads were the catalyst for the change. Before then, everything counted.
I find it interesting the most vocal against this are those who joined after posts stopped counting. Perhaps they don't realize just how many posts in people's counts have 10 years of Omni in them. I probably have 10k.

Thank goodness this vote will be over in the next day or so.

If you have any other ideas to improve FT feel free to start a thread or PM me. As a matter of fact, many of the proposals I have made come from other posters PMing me! ^
As for wasting our time debating this, fact is that this issue has been settled for a week or so. Now we're just waiting for two TB members to vote so we can finally announce the results. That's one reason I support having the TB votes take place in public....so that posters don't waste their time debating issues where the outcome is already decided but not yet announced.

I still can't quite reconcile your position on "consistency" given the fact that post counts will always reflect two different sets of rules over the years. I guess you want "consistency" with regards to where posts are made, but don't care about when posts were made.

Don't count at all; show your date of arrival to FT and date of last written contribution, indicating in which forum it was written. Motion irrelevant.

Will the TB members consider the sentiments expressed in this thread? And wouldn't that be problematic as well, considering the low number of "votes" here, while some of the new TB members had already expressed their opinion on this topic before the TB elections - and possibly got elected because of their position?
