Interesting. I've not heard this elsewhere, but I have read from several members that they don't care about post counts and would also be fine if they ended.

Id say why not?
Post count does not really mean anything anyways. The point of Omni is for OT threads. People post OT threads in the AA forum, Hilton forum, etc. so why would those post count any more than Omni OT post?
Disclaimer: I dont think Post Counts mean crap...just cause you spend a lot of time doing something doesn't mean you know what you are doing.

While I personally don't care about post counts*, there are many others who do & who have posted in this thread & previous ones re: the topic. It is important to some/them, just like having elite status at hotels, airlines, & car rentals, is important to them.
For those who don't care, good on ya. For those who do care, good on ya.
* As cholula & kokonutz have said, after a certain threshold it really doesn't matter if it's a few thousand or a hundred thousand, or a few hundred or a lot of hundreds. I fall into that mindset.
Cheers.

I look at my growing post count with awe and wonder everyday and while I have tried to use my FT post count to pay for groceries at Safeway but have thus far failed, I still hold out hope.
Long live rapidly growing FT post counts IMO.

I'm sure RichMSN will weigh in on this but the reason I prefer counting all posts in all forums is I like to see the large number under my handle. As are many FT'ers, I'm a collector of miles, points, posts, gold doubloons, Picasso originals and anything else I can get my paws on.

FWIW - I'd be more inclined to support dropping titles than post counts, but quite frankly I don't really care about either.
Cheers.

Easy to say that when you have 182 posts. I've posted here for over 11 years, and I'd estimate that over 90% of my posts are contributions or answering questions in the travel forums. That post number does mean something to me. I've taken a lot of time to answer questions about airlines and hotels, link meal and hotel photos, and to write trip reports (two from the Beijing and Athens Olympics).
Guess I should not have bothered with any of those as "post count does not really mean anything anyways". It means a lot to me. It recognizes the extent of my contribution to the success of FlyerTalk.
