Sitting here JFK Swiss lounge, I had 5D/G and swapped out to 4D/G. Travelling with a partner... Wish 5A/B opened up, as my +1 loves the window but there are people sitting there. T - 3.5 and half the seats are still empty, including now 4D/G, 4K,5K!!!

I have been in the little cabin and brought an infant there twice, last time just last week.

It even was a US award booking and I didn't have my SEN status in the booking - 4ADG were available when checking in online at T-24h. ^

If only it would be that easy. Our little one slept peacefully throughout the whole flight, but I couldn't say the same of the guy in 5G snoring like a rhino for most of the flight.

Did you phone in to the LX call centre?

Is your Star Gold number in the PNR?

If yes to the second question- phone in to the Swiss call centre and they should be able to do it unless there is an operational reason the seats are blocked?

Note if you are on an Avro you really don't want the A side seats as there is no middle seat blocked (you are seated next to someone in business).

Thanks Travelsig. Yes I did call them actually and they just said the seats are blocked! But its unlikely that both flights would be the same...Do you suggest me calling a particular service centre? Perhaps i can get a better result? I think i called the UK one. And yep my star gold number is definitely in.

My personal preference is never 1st row due to its lack of overhead storage and you can't put anything in front either.

Try the Number in Switzerland, I find them generally nicer.

+1

But they seem to put M&M status pax in 1A (even if they don't want it!).

All the call centres should have the same information. If you are still not able to get the seats- just wait for OLCI and they should be available.

Ok well i just called them and they told me now that it's just M&M star golds that can allocate the seats in advance. So im out of luck. They also think that at online check in it will still be blocked....rather annoying this i must say! They said I can try at the airport although in all likelyhood i would have thought they would be taken by then.

Oh well, anyway thank you very much guys for all your input. ^

It will not be blocked at OLCI in my experiences.

Seriously not that many people want to sit in row 1 as there is often not any space to put your baggage. I usually choose row 2- however if you still want row 1 my guess is you will get it at OLCI (T-23).

While I generally agree that row 1 has some serious downsides there are some airlines where you can only survive in this row, e.g. Iberia Express comes to mind because the seat pitch in all other rows in a pain.

Best seats for couple in business on an overnight flight???

My wife and I are flying from Zürich to and from Nairobi in business class on Swiss. The flight from Zürich to Nairobi is a day flight. The flight from Nairobi back to Zürich is overnight. On both flights I have reserved seats 5A and B. My concern is really on the return flight from Nairobi. Will we hear lots of noise from the galley and or toilets in row 5 as we are trying to sleep? Should we instead move to one of the DG rows or seats 11 AB in the second cabin? The other thing I should point out is that I am very tall, 6'7", so legroom is very important to me. Thanks so much.

For the day flight 5AB are excellent seats: one of the pairs, with a window.

For the night flight I would stick with 5AB. There will, in my experience, not be light or noise issues. Legroom may be a (minor) issue but if you take the A seat, you will have a bit more room for your feet than in the B seat. Not in terms of length but in terms of width at the feet end. None of the other seats have more seat length.

I'm torn. Seats 5A and 6G are both available. These seem to be the best seats available to me as a non-HON/Sen but I which is best?

Fwiw this is a relatively short day-flight (ZRH-TLV) not an overnight so I'm starting to lean away from the extra foot-space and toward 5A.
