Receive Starpoints or credit for declining housekeeping.

See the Starwood Green Choice Program Description & FAQ for details.

Green Choice options, awarded at check out for each night you decline housekeeping services (except day of departure) :
North America & Europe/Middle East
500 Starpoints, at participating Sheraton, Westin, Luxury Collection, Le Méridien, St. Regis and W locations.
250 Starpoints at participating Aloft, Element and Four Points by Sheraton locations.
Or $5 USD (amount may change based on location/region) voucher at participating food and beverage outlets within the hotel.
Latin America
Participating hotels provide a 250 Starpoint option or $5 Food & Beverage option only
Asia Pacific
Participating hotels provide a 250 Starpoint option only.

The maximum number of Green Choice nights allowed is determined by each hotel, but is normally 3 consecutive nights. For longer stays, after housekeeping on the 4th night, you can usually then have another 3 consecutive Green Choice nights.

I found the card yesterday, requested "no service" and then hung it on my door prior to 2AM... the next morning, the card was gone, but nothing was under my door.

I talked to the front desk, and they said there was no such program that offered 500 points or $5 for declining housekeeping...

Can anyone validate that the Sheraton Cavalier Saskatoon isn't participating? Is there a list of participating hotels?

If there was a card in your room that you hung on the door, I would take the card to the front desk, show it to them and again ask for the points. The card would be the best local indicator that they are participating in the program. If they say no points, based on the card being in the room I would ask for a supervisor to approve teh points if required. If they removed the card, which is not typical, I would point out there was a card in the room which you hung on the door etc.

FYI, I typically find service at this property to be below standard. While a bit out of the way, don't forget there is a new four points.

Thanks for the suggestion.... I considered the Four Points, but I can walk to my client from this property.

Today, there was no card in my room... I guess I'll go to the front door again.

The card didn't say anything about $5 or 500 points - just provided an option to decline housekeeping... Can anyone take a picture of what the card is supposed to look like?

Bill - you're an over-achiever. He didn't ask if the were or weren't, he asked if anyone could confirm yes or no. A simple "yes, someone can confirm yes or no" would have sufficed.

As an update, the Sheraton Cavalier is now participating in the Make A Green Choice program - they started last week.

How long after check-out do the points typically post?

Thanks for letting me know. They have not updated that information internally yet.

In most of the properties I've stayed in, they're pretty good about posting them at the same time the other points post. I don't think I've ever had a case where a property hasn't posted the "make a green choice" points by the time the elite bonus points post for that stay.

Add Aloft Brooklyn to another property offering the program. Granted, it's only 250 points or $5.
