The countdown clock calculation shows that the announcement will be at Sep 15, 23:00 GMT (Sep 15, 19:00 EDT). Is this correct? In fact the hours do not add up correctly, it says GMT on the clock but the hours add up in a way that it is Western Europe Daylight Time (GMT+1).

There were also errors on the summer promo countdown clock. I think the spg.com programmers need to do a little travel and learn about time zones.

The clock is correctly timed to hit zero at midnight on the 16th in the UK as we are currently in BST, which is GMT+1 (So yes, wrong label on the clock)

My question is will the promo be revealed on Sep 16 00:00 BST (Sep 15, 19:00 US EDT) like the clock says or Sep 16 00:00 in some US time zone?

I looked at the HTML code and the countdown seconds time is initialized on the server so I can't see how it is computed. At the time of my inspection the JavaScript code is
Code:
var seconds = 203759;

function secondsToDays(seconds)
{ // day = 24 hours or 1440 minutes or 86400 seconds
 var days = Math.floor(seconds / 86400);
 seconds -= days * 86400; // hour = 60 minutes or 3600 seconds
 var hours = Math.floor(seconds/3600);
 seconds -= hours * 3600; // minute = 60 seconds
 var minutes = Math.floor(seconds / 60);
 seconds -= minutes * 60;
 seconds = Math.floor(seconds);
 return { days : days, hours : hours, minutes : minutes, seconds : seconds };
}
This code is fine, it is just how "seconds" is derived that is the possible source of the inconsistency in the display. I could write it much more efficient and readable using the mod operation, %.

I like the free weekend night for every 5 mattress nights. The first 5 nights got you a Fri night, then the second 5 nights got you a Sat night. With the many nights way from home, it is a nice way to treat my much better half to a weekend away so we could spend some quality together.

The last time the free weekend night promo was on, we zipped down to Seattle and stayed at the W. I got a lot of brownie points for that one.

~9 hours to go... Hopefully this will be more exciting than the flights announcement.

Didn't Starwood say that they would do another conference call announcement/discussion for FTers for this promo (similar to what they did for SPG Flights a few weeks back)? Did i miss the post about this? Anyone hear anything yet?

They would be hard-pressed to come up with an announcement that would be less exciting than the Q3 promo. If this comes up as "Stay four times and get 4000 bonus starpoints" I'm going to be a Hilton guest starting in October!

Except they don't give us numbers and we don't know exactly when the box office opens.

I remember something like that also but a quick search did not find it. Maybe it was mentioned on the flight webinar.

I just can't imagine this promotion is going to match the hype here on FT ... I'd like to think they could come close to the current Hyatt FFN promotion, we'll see ...

The page does say there are 2 ways to earn up to 100,000 points. How many stays will be required to get there is a whole new story...
