I think the cutoff for that is July 27.

Be prepared to be VERY disappointed with the Marriott "corporate codes"...they are terrible.

I've never signed up to Ritz Carlton section. Are we supposed to and then merge it with Marriott on the 18th like SPG anyone know? Thanks.

Agreed entirely - my company has a corporate code for both SPG and Marriott, but with Marriott I've never had any availability (shows me as no hotels available). While SPG typically always has most hotels available. Not looking forward to that aspect, as I prefer to book direct on the website, and not via our TA.

I have SPG reservations booked later in the year with my current SPG # attached to it, when I get my new membership ID, will the current reservations be automatically updated? Or do I need to manually update them with my new membership ID?

On 8/18, your new SPG member number will be active immediately. No action is required for any previous or upcoming stays that have already been booked. Your new number will be applied automatically. Beginning on 8/18, you should only use your new number.

Yes there was; in fact I booked a stay starting on July 31st, to be in a hotel to see if any celebration happened on the 1st.

Does this mean we can continue to convert MRs to SPG until August 17th then???
Actually, many people have been clarifying "it's not August 1" for at least a month here. William officially replied with "a date is still to be determined" at least a month ago, if not two. Some chose to believe "but it was on the web site 6 months ago" over the official representatives update. Now we know which was accurate.

Sure, you can convert MR's to SPG until August 17. On August 18th they'll be converted right back at the same rate.

So everyone will have a new SPG number, and there's a new SPG website and SPG app? In parallel with the MR website and app? What exactly will the two different sites/apps show? The same balance, kept in sync over time, but only "SPG" reservations on the SPG site and "Marriott" reservations on the Marriott site?

I had thought "combined" meant combined. As in - there's now one web site to use for everything. No?

OK, but my point is that I don't think we will have to use Marriott codes, right? if SPG.com remains, then my SET code should remain for now, right? I've seen nothing that this will go away on August 18th. Or did I miss something?

I am confused. We will get a new SPG number on August 18th, then there is also a Marriott number, then we need to combined SPG and Marriott accounts into one, then it becomes a One Program number?

Here is what I know about this:

Starting on 8/18, after the system transition, you will be able to search and book paid and points redemption stays across all 6,500 participating hotels on www.Marriott.com, www.SPG.com, Luxury Hotels and Resorts | The Ritz-Carlton and our mobile apps.

My take is every SPG member will get a new number that will work with the new system, existing SPG numbers are wrong format. IF you also have a MR account, then that number will also exist. At some point, we need to pick a number and bring them together. There will be an online process for us to do that instead of having to call in and have an agent do the work. Some have reported issues with CCs not being linked to existing accounts and we had to call in to get points into just one account. If you fail/delay merging your accounts you will have two logins. I doubt you will be able to easily move points between the accounts. Still don't know if there are any downsides to bringing them together or not.
