UPDATE: October 26, 2017
Effective December 17, 2017 the SPG partnership with Uber will come to an end.

Members who have met all of the requirements to earn Starpoints in accordance with the SPG-Uber benefits program, including, without limitation, having a Stay posted to their SPG Member account for the current calendar year will continue to earn Starpoints on Uber rides up until 11:59PM on December 17, 2017.

If the stay overlaps with the program end date, you will still earn 2 starpoints per USD 1 spent on Uber rides taken during your stay. Any rides taken after 11:59 on December 17, 2017 even if taken during a stay that originated on or before December 17, 2014 will not earn starpoints on that uber ride.

Frequently Asked Questions

If members have a stay that overlaps with the program end date, will they still earn 2 Starpoints per US$1 spent on Uber rides taken during the stay?
Yes, members who check-in for a Stay prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017 and have an Uber pick-up time prior to 11:59PM on December 17, 2017, subject to applicable limits, will earn 2 Starpoints for every U.S. dollar or its foreign equivalent denomination spent for fares on the Uber ride(s). Why did I recently have a delay in my Starpoints posting for my Uber rides?
An issue was identified affecting Uber rides over the last month that delayed the posting of points to member accounts. We have since fixed this issue and members should receive all ride credits within the stated 2-4 week period.

UPDATE: January 18, 2017
Uber Partnership Update
  • During Hotel stay: Members will earn two Starpoints per US$1 spent with Uber (versus two, three or four Starpoints per US$1, depending on member tier).
  • Everyday: members will earn one Starpoint per US$2 spent with Uber (versus one Starpoint per US$1).

With your SPG and Uber accounts linked and you have met a requirement of ONE qualifying stay in the current calendar year, SPG members will earn 1 point per dollar spent with Uber on every day rides. For rides during stays, SPG members will earn 2 points per dollar spent on Uber (Preferred), 3 points per (Gold or Platinum), or 4 points per (Plat75).

There is a maximum of $10,000 in points-earning spend with Uber per calendar year. This means that you could have up to 40,000 SPG points with this promotion (if you were a Plat75 and only used Uber while on SPG stays and maxed out $10,000 in Uber services).

Somehow, I get the impression that the Uber problem is a special "project" that research isn't handling itself.

Why just doing a sweep to shut us all up isn't possible by now remains a mystery.

My apologies for any delay, but it is unlikely that they will reach out to you directly unless they have additional questions. It can take them up to 10 business days to complete their work, so you should check your account occasionally and feel free to let us know via email if it should extend past that time frame.

I wonder if this is universal? I've just noticed that I've not been receiving any Uber points for the last month either - have asked my Ambassador to look into it.

Yes, I also haven't received any points for the past month. Strangely enough, had 2 rides on Sept 23rd, one posted, the other did not.

Yup, the floodgates opened and all of mine posted! Nice.

Now, the only thing missing is the bonus points for transactions in conjunction with a stay. Hopefully those will catch up...

All my Uber rides until Aug. 16 posted promptly, sometimes the next morning, other times a week later. Then I traveled to a no-Uber-zone, then later switched mostly to Lyft.
None of my rides since Sep. 29 has posted, so tomorrow is the end of the 4-week patience period. So in light of SL3 Christine's Post #665 I guess I should not email, just keep waiting.

OK now! I got all of 'em 9 hours after this post!

The SPG & Uber partnership comes to an end December 17th

Since 2015 SPG® has partnered with Uber to offer members the opportunity to earn Starpoints® for rides, and we wanted to provide advance notice that this partnership is scheduled to come to an end on December 17, 2017.

Members don’t need to take any action, Starpoints earned to date with Uber will not be affected and can still be earned through 11:59pm EST on December 17, 2017.

We've added a wiki with some anticipated FAQ's, but as always, please let us know if we can help answer any other questions.

Bummer, though I had a hunch this was on the cards after the devaluation. Uber's obviously changing rapidly, and with their new Millennial credit card they mentioned recently they're keen to establish their own ecosystem.

It loses me 5K SPG points per year which is no huge deal, though does make Uber less sticky for me than it previously was.

Uber has become trash anyways. When it just started it was great.

SPG points were the only thing that kept me using Uber so will use other alternatives from now on.
