Geezus that list of non-participating properties is long.

Also, not a single property in Taiwan is participating. Nice.

All of Asia is explicitly excluded.

Just out of curiosity and boredom, I counted them. 374 non-participating properties. Wiki says SPG has 992 properties. So about a 38% non participation rate, mostly in Asia-Pacific, but plenty outside it as well.

Question for Mr. Starwood Lurker:

With the additional point, starting March 1, for Plats over 75 nights last year, does that make this promotion even more lucrative? In other words, will Plats with 75+ be getting double or triple of 3 Starpoints per $ spent?

thanks

I'm disappointed, too, but since Asia had a different promo (2 free nights) no Asian properties were included. It's not that the hotels didn't participate, it's that the promo was not for AP, at all. This is not dissimilar to many US only promos, which, in fact, exclude most countries.

This promo is on your base points (I've never seen one that isn't). So even now, we're not getting triple points on the 50% Gold/Platinum bonus. That's not likely to change with the additional point.

True, but to the best of my knowledge we haven't been told whether the 4th point is going to be considered part of the base for 75+ Plats, or if it will be considered a "bonus" point. We're just told that we'll be getting 4 points/ $ spent. Hence the question to Mr. Lurker.

And 992 - 374 = 618

But the promotional piece on SPG.com states you can earn the bonus at over 750 properties in North and Latin America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

If my math is correct, 750 - 618 = 132 short

Where did the 132 properties go? Or is this that "new math" I keep hearing about these days?

lets see. starwood base points earning is 2 points for every $ spent. Gold and Platinum members get 50% bonus points. so that makes it 3 points/ $ spent. P75+ get 4 points/ $ spent ( which makes it 100 % bonus points)

so for double promotion P75+ will earn 6 points/ $ spent
for triple promotion P75+ will earn 8 points/ $ spent

if you are thinking that P75+ are getting 4 points/ $ spent Plus 50% elite bonus ( total 6 points/ $ spent) then thats too good to be true

Only the 2 base points are going to be bonused for Better by the Night or any other promotional offer like it. The additional point for Platinum's with 75 nights is considered as a bonus of its own, like the extra point for being an elite member is.

So, while there will certainly be additional points earned for Platinum's who've earned it, it won't be a windfall resulting from these points being doubled or tripled.

How long do these bonus points take to post? I just completed a stay, got my base points, bonus 50%, 4th point, and welcome amenity but no double/triple bonus.

I did sign up and I believe the hotel was not on the list of excluded (Sheraton Jacksonville)

2-4 weeks according to the T&C (https://www.starwoodhotels.com/prefe...ml?promoID=B1N)

I'm absolutely gutted I didn't read the fine print about APAC. I just missed out on 3x triple points and I wasn't aware of the FN promo either...

I've had some post the same day my regular points posted (W Buckhead/W Times Sq), while other stays (W Atlanta Midtown) took up to a week to post. I recall reading further up the thread a few weeks back that the sweep-ups could be on a Saturday.

How long has it been?
