I need to be in Germany as well during the promotional timeframe and sadly the Starwood hotels in Germany are not participating as others have mentioned.

Luckily there are other promos from other chains to move my business to. Radisson (Club Carlson) just announced a triple points promo which nets 60 points per $ spent (20 regular + 40 promo bonus) so that is where my $ in Germany is going in 1. Quarter.....and they actually have some very nice properties in Germany.

How many points/$ do you get with this promo for being a Gold/Plat and have a 3 night stay? Is it (2 base points * 3 ) + 1 bonus for being gold/plat for a total of 7pts/$? Or is it 9 points total (2 base + 1 elite) * 3 ignoring the points you get for paying with a SPG Amex?

Is it smarter to book two one night stays at LAX (say westin and then sheraton gateway) and get the 2 stays in or is it better to stay at one property and get one stay/two nights and double promotion? I should be able to make ten stays this year but not 25 as Spg won't status match my Diamond status so I'm sticking with Hyatt this year.

Thanks

Worthless to me. I hotel jump when I can. I need stays more than double points.
I have never seen so many non-participating properties for a promotion.

What gives? It's only a few extra points.

Kind of a turn off for international travelers.

The non-participating hotels run a promo of its own:
Stay one night and pay for two. Stay two nights and pay for three, etc.

Huh stay 1 night, pay for 2? Stay 2 nights, pay for 3? How does that logic work?

I should have added a sarcastic sign to my post.

Depends on how badly you need the stays to keep gold status. If you expect to barely make it, then jump around. If you are pretty confident in reaching it, grab the points.

Agreed, Australia was a wasteland for the last promotion, and now again.

Just checked, this promo absolutely useless for me.
Each and every Starwood hotel that I usually stay at is on the excluded list.

You might have missed this message that appears after registration takes place:

"Please Note: This webpage serves as confirmation of registration for the SPG Better by the Night promotion. You will not receive a registration confirmation email. Should you have any questions or concerns, please click “contact us” to speak with a customer service associate."

Of course, you can try to re-register and, if you were successful the first time, it will tell you that you've already registered.
