ANA:
-Charges a fuel surcharge on their own metal
-Charges a fuel surcharge on partner metal IF the partner charges a fuel surcharge on award tickets.
-Does not charge a fuel surcharge on partner metal IF the partner does not charge a fuel surcharge on award tickets.

For example ANA wanted to collect YQ for redeeming on LH or LX but not for redeeming on CO or US.

In fact this whole post is somewhat flawed unless you break it down into these 3 categories. Even if an airline charges a YQ on award tickets they may or may not charge it for any partner carriers, and even if they do they may only collect it on carriers that collect a YQ on their own award tickets...

Where you find mistakes please point them out. I will edit accordingly. I'm trying to note the differences and have made notations where instructed.

The way I read ctownflyer's post, "elites" should be changed to "members".

Just a suggestion:

The wording of the title and the first post can be confusing:

The title says that you are listing "airlines that don't charge fuel surcharges", but then you are listing airlines that don't charge fuel surchages with a NO.

Maybe you should add an explanation along the lines of "YES, they do charge fuels surchage" and "NO, they don't charge fuel surchage".

Agree with Goliath--I find your presentation of YES and NO confusing.

For the record, Thai (TG) definitely has fuel surcharges (hefty) and taxes payable on award tickets, at least on its own metal.

Pardon my ignorance, but just to confirm what I think I'm reading above - if I'm redeeming UA miles to fly on LOT or TK, I'll be paying a surcharge?

Is there any way to estimate how much without calling the 800 line?

Thanks!

I have made this correction in the thread title and waiting for mod's to do so in the visible forum title.

When redeeming UA miles for any award, UA or star alliance, you don't pay any fuel surcharges.
