AA concourse at ATL
Mods, please move/merge if there's a more suitable thread for this; tried looking but didn't find anything (other than maybe the ATL thread on the DL forum).
I'm "connecting" through ATL on a MR later this week. Will be short-checking luggage to ATL and have 1:40 to grab my bag and recheck, and wanted to know how feasible this is assuming flights are on time. I do have PreCheck.
I know the AC is in T, but the AA app is showing both my inbound and outbound leaving out of D -- wondering whether this is an error or if not all AA flights actually leave out of T.
I don't fly through ATL much so while I understand that the terminals are all parallel to each other in a straight line and all connected airside, I'm wondering as to how much time it would take to go from D or T to baggage claim and back.

Last time I was there LAA flights (DFW, ORD, MIA) still left out of T, LUS left out of D. The Admirals Club is indeed in T. D to T should not take more than 5-10 minutes via the Plane Train. Not sure as far as baggage claim goes.

This is correct. LAA destinations use gates T9-12. LUS destinations use D21, 23, and 25. LUS flights use baggage carousel 6, which is aaaaaaaallllll the way at the west side of the terminal building, literally the last one. You should be okay on time as long as you hustle. ATL security wait times are notoriously long right now, even at precheck.

Good to know, thank you all for the advice.
I'll definitely be hustling; a quick drink and snack in the AC will be enough motivation to make that happen as it'll be a long day.

The Admirals Club in ATL is very nice and efficient.
I have done many MR trips through ATL and haven't had any issues. I can't speak for checking luggage, but the time between T and D is very quick. I was able to walk it in about 10 minutes.
For a data point - GF flew through ATL last week on AA. Security was a mess, and she had pre check. She said the wait was about 45 minutes.

I think this question is best asked in the South forum, where I will shift it.

The one time I've flown out of ATL (a Tuesday afternoon), the precheck line at the North security checkpoint was quite long (more than ten minutes to clear). After security, I was right at the LAA gates at the T concourse; it took about ten minutes to get from there to my LUS flight out of the D concourse, using the train. (I walk fast, but there wasn't much walking; it was mostly on escalators clogged with standees and the train.) In total, it was about 25 minutes from the AA ticket counter to the LUS/AA gates in the D concourse.

Oh wow, guess I'll really have to hustle. Appreciate the info.

Someone mentioned in another thread on the AA forum that checked bags can't transit the same airport twice on a single itinerary. I'm flying DCA-PHL-CLT-ATL-CLT-MSY all on one PNR. A phone agent I asked about this told me that they'd check it to ATL and then I'd have to re-check.

I had a crack-o-dawn flight, so time to drop of my bag at the AA counter to Admirals Club was about ~6-7 minutes. The non-Precheck line was already starting to snake pretty long, even at 6:45am.

At the AC in ATL now, after easily grabbing and rechecking my luggage with plenty of time to spare. Thanks to all for the info and tips.
Security was indeed pretty slow (relative to what I'm used to flying out of MSY or DCA) this afternoon, about 15-20 minutes for Precheck. Might have been able to hop in the premium line for a slightly shorter wait but I wasn't in a huge rush. As an additional aside, AA baggage handling today at ATL was fantastic. 10 minutes from bag offloading (per AA online bag tracker) to carousel, and all of the bags that came off first were priority tagged. Perhaps this was just a smooth day, but the apprehension I had about this connection seems to have been not so warranted.
