Modify a points reservation?
Hi everyone! I have the Grand Hotel Victoria Concept and Spa in Menaggio booked for my honeymoon with points, but need to change the dates. It's currently booked May 2-6 and I wanted to change it ideally to May 4-6 and if not, to May 2-4. I called World of Hyatt and they said since there is no availability for those dates, they can't modify the reservation to a shorter stay. I asked if it's a length of stay issue, but the agent just said if she can't see availability then she can't change the booking. Is there any way around this? Would it help to contact the hotel directly?

Hi, Did you try contacting Hyatt on Twitter or speaking to another concierge person? Guessing hey can't remove a night it seems they need to totally cancel and rebook in which case they won't be able to do unless your room booked is still available and on points? Due to booking on points, not sure the hotel can help but doesn't hurt to call as a last resort. Sometimes, as with other Hyatts, especially SLH, not sure if you cancel first the points availability would return back into the system; too risky unless you feel you would have to totally cancel if dates can't be changed. Best of luck and please report back.

Just in case this might help anyone else out, surikatina 's advice to head to Twitter was spot on! It took a different sessions of going back and forth, and weirdly the representative on Twitter said it can't be done but then the next morning I woke up and got an email that the dates were changed and the appropriate number of points were deposited back into my account. Having the Hyatt representative reach out to the hotel definitely made the difference.

The Victoria generally is a stunning property. Having been there multiple times and going again in May. However, availability of Hyatt points and awards there is very low. Paid rates also are often not available. The hotel is generally very expensive and booked but always the best idea when coming to the region nevertheless.
The hotels staff at reception is exceptionally friendly and helpful. So always a good idea to reach out to them.
Enjoy!

We came back from Lake Como a few weeks ago and had a delightful stay at the Grand Hotel Victoria. The check in process was quick and seamless. The outdoor pool is heated (yay!) and the spa is absolutely massive, can easily spend 2-3 hours in there. The gym is well appointed but ran a little warm - we mentioned this on checkout an the staff were very grateful for the feedback so they could make adjustments. The room was of a very good size (especially for Europe!) with a really comfortable bed - everything is brand new, so no issues with anything. The entire hotel is decorated very tastefully, sort of a modern old Italy vibe. Breakfast buffet was huge! Great options from pastries to hot options to freshly sliced meats and freshly pressed juices. The only other issue we had was that our devices were dropped off wifi very quickly after a short period (like 5minutes) of non-active use, but this is truly the only issue we had. The restaurant is known for its gourmet pizzas, but I'm vegetarian so maybe I didn't get to try the best ones - I thought a nice local place they recommended had the better pizzas (Divino 13). We didn't need a reservation to eat at the hotel restaurant when we went in early May, but I would make reservations for dinner for June - another highly recommended restaurant that we didn't get to check out because it was booked was Il Ristorante de Paolo. Would 100% stay here again!
