I just rented a car at Milan Central Station , this place is difficult to find! took us over an hour/the confirmation print out doesn't even have the local sixt phone #.

After I reached the counter, the rep said they did not have the car I booked (b200 benz) , so they gave us a Opel which i wasn't too happy. I was told the rate is the same and such, but I did not get a invoice with the total cost and when I check my SixT account online , my previous booking was all deleted and doesn't even have a record of my rental. Will my rental record show up later ? or the rep forgot to enter my membership #? I am currently on Platinum status.

P.S. I thought cars are usually guarantee, hertz always had the car I wanted, I called SixT couple days ago and confirm this, they said it will b200 too.

Resurrecting this from the dead as I may be renting from Sixt in the near future. I found a link through Google that listed both United 1K and SPG Plat status as qualifying for a Sixt Plat card, however the link then took me to the Sixt homepage after I put my membership #s in. Would either of these still work and if so, how can I go about getting the card? I signed up for a Gold card but from what I've read this won't do much for me. Maybe I can just upgrade this one? Thanks!

Just flew into Paris CDG tonight and booked a Compact Luxury hoping to get an upgrade with Sixt Platinum I got from a status match A3G. When I asked about the upgrade, they said they only thing they have was a 5 series BMW which was apparently 4 levels higher than my car and they would upgrade me.

In a case like that, isnt it better to see what they have available and just book the car one status down?

I was also told that since my rental is longer than 7 days they wont upgrade me. Is this true or am I being 'taken for a ride'? :-)

I've heard that "since this is a premium car, we don't offer an upgrade n this case"

So they have plenty of these excuses how to say that we will not upgrade

Any ideas how to challenge this? Does printing of the policy work?

According to policy:

Free upgrade to the next car group and a double upgrade in U.S. locations.**

**Subject to availability, not valid for long-term rentals, special cars, motorcycles or trucks. The possibility of receiving an upgrade is only valid for up to 12 months from the issue date of the card. This advantage remains valid when you rent more than 10 times per 12 months with Sixt

Does anyone have a note to the policy what is defined as a long term rentals or 'special cars'?

"There are exeptions from this upgrade rule as well: long term rentals, special cars (convertables, coups or else) and vans such as the one you booked."

Hi,

You would be entitled to an upgrade as long as your rentla does not exceed 28 days however this would only be an upgrade to the group above what you have reserved if it is available. The branch may upgrade you further than this however that would be at their discretion.

I will be looking into the branches comments with the branch manager and I sincerely apologise for any confusion this may have caused.

If I can helps with anythign else, please let me know.

Thanks, Ruth.

I sent a request to have my Express Card upgraded to Platinum since I have a couple corporate accounts with you but the email address did not work. Can you give me an email address to send my Express Card number to so I can get the upgrade?

Hi Ruth,

I am being told that the upgrade is not for the next class. The location isn't being truthful. I reserved a luxury car and I'm supposed to be upgraded to the next class which is and XCAR yet I'm being told that's not true. Can you please send the written policy on upgrades?

It seems like every time I go to collect a car with my Sixt Platinum status I get offered the class of car I booked and not an upgrade (except once in the US when I got a double). When I ask the agent about my upgrade and show them the card they usually start saying things like "Well, I can give you a such-and-such for EUR10 more per day." and they look a bit bemused when I say that Platinum should get it for free.

Am I doing something wrong???

I'm a bit late posting this, but never mind. I booked a mid-size SUV (ended up being a BMW X3) for a 7 day trip from MUC to the Tyrolian Alps. At check in I mentioned I was hoping to get a Jaguar F-Pace (as that was what was quoted in the booking - F-Pace or similar). I mentioned that I was a Platinum "should shouldn't I get a free upgrade?" and showed the agent the bit on the website as she actually seemed confused. Apparently SUV's count as "special" cars (really?) so they aren't eligible for free upgrades for Platinum.

How does the group upgrade work if I have booked through some third party like an airline? The prices might be up to 40% cheaper through some external party so I was wondering if that will cancel my possibility for the free upgrade?
