Hello everyone,
I'm back for a trip to California! Has anyone made an after-hours reservation at LAX yet? I'm landing at 11:00 pm at the airport but I think I'll be at the agency a little later (internal flight from Maui, and EU citizen), probably around 12:30 am. Do you think this is ok or should I wait until the next morning? |
Sixt LAX closes at 1 AM. The shuttles run pretty frequently and traffic is good at that hour. Even with luggage, you should be there well within an hour of landing.

Anything nice in the fleet have ACC? I've rented a 4 series, 5 series, X3, X5, and X7 lately and none have it. I presume even a 7 series wouldn't have it as it's not standard.
|
That depends on what you consider nice. Regarding the SUVs: From model year 2024: Chevy Traverse, GMC Acadia, Toyota Highlander; From model year 2025: Chevy Tahoe, Suburban, GMC Yukon/XL. ACC in base trim.

None of the BMWs in the Sixt US fleet have ACC. I am not sure why as it’s all bells and whistles in the EU ones I rented, but as Schranzmaster said you’ll want to go for US / Japanese vehicles which tend to get optioned out.

The Mercedes GLS ist back and some GLC AMG 43.
Last month in LAX I was offered a Mercedes GLS 450 for a surcharge of about 60 USD a day. I already had a BMW X7 reserved and the only advantage of the GLS was the lower mileage (brand new car). There were also quite a few GLC 43 AMG in the spot. Might be nice if you like the sound powerful of four cylinders… |
Having an X7 reserved and then being offered a GLS at 60 bucks a day extra is just insulting. BMW must be stoked with that partnership too, making Mercedes look like the brand that is upcharge worthy vs. the ‘standard’ BMW offerings.

I rent Full Size Car in LA from their West Hollywood location as I am about to be flying for >15h and didn't want to pick it up right after I land in LAX but the next day.
Any clue what car I should expect there? |
I got an awesome Mini Cooper S in Seattle last year, had the DCT and Summer Tires.
Any idea what class I should be booking to get something similar? From what I can see on my invoice, it says MINI COOPER SAL PET AU XCAR US082000 STANDARD WEB P |

Rented a few times with the petrol/gasoline versions of 3 series, X3, X5 in the US and none have ACC as you said. |
Interesting! Perhaps the I-series they got are more optioned out or, more likely, have it as part of an entry trim.

It's just the Wife and I with a couple of suitcases, so don't need anything huge. |
If the GLS is a surcharge from the X7 there’s no class to reserve them, they’ll just pull an upgrade rate out of their... uh, hats. I asked them about the Bentleys last time and it was some laughable amount on top of a 7 series rate.

Reserved a GMC Acadia, collection at Hughes Centre Las Vegas (Good location, great staff) and drove away in aVW Atlas. The mostly has a GMC vehicles parked outside.

What booking class do you think I should select if I was keen on one of the GLC 43 AMGs? Would this be the 'Extraordinary' (BMW X5)?
