Hi,
I'm looking at hiring a convertible at Sixt MIA in a few months' time. One option is shown as a BMW 8 Series convertible (or similar). Any ideas what the "or similar" could be, or will I more-or-less be guaranteed the 8 Series? Thanks! |

Rented at ATL in late April. I booked an X5 and was assigned one with 48k miles. I asked if they have an upgrade and was offered an X7 for a fee or a 5 series for no extra charge. They ended up finding a newer x5 for me, only 8k miles.
I did wonder if the 5 series would have been the new 2024 body style or the old version. I saw both when walking the lot. |
Should I expect some car other than X7 for the Extraordinary (X7) class? Do they still have GLS? I have an upcoming reservation this Sep at ATL airport. If their X7 usually has bench seat or captain seat in the second row?
Thanks! |

Do you have an idea how much is the fee for upgrading from X5 to X7? Thanks!

Hey Folks,
I just picked up a BMW i5 (I've been trying to get one of these bad boys for a while now). Heads-up that the i5s are the edrive40s; I'm not sure if Sixt actually offers i5 xdrive40s! If I find out about the xdrive40s, I'll let everyone know! |
Hello all. Apologies for the annoying/naive post - TBH I never really rent a car above the very cheapest or the occasional SUV if we're going over some slightly tougher terrain, so this is new to me.
I'm Platinum with Sixt. We're driving from San Francisco to Las Vegas next year, and the difference in price between compact and 'extraordinary' is negligible, so we're going to get something nice. I've never heard of 'extraordinary' before - I assume that "Extraordinary (BMW 5 Series)" won't be interchangeable for an 'extraordinary' SUV? They have "Premium (BMW X1)" and "Luxury (BMW X3)" and almost the same price as the 5 Series - the missus favours larger cars, but I'd really like to go as fancy as possible. Does anyone have any advice/suggestions? We'd be picking up at the Fairmont Hotel rather than SFO as we're staying in the city. And what is the 'ranking' of these cars? Premium, then Luxury, then Extraordinary? EDIT: Didn't want to miss the price, so went with the Extraordinary BMW 5 Series ;) |

And was the model 2024 og 2025 Head-up display? |

Premium < Luxury < Extraordinary (though usually that's "Special", letter X in the 4 letter code anyway). I would say at SFO don't expect an upgrade, and since COVID don't expect an upgrade anywhere, so better to book what you want. Seems like the fleets shrank then never bounced back. SUV won't even swap for a non-SUV, unless they happen to have an abundance (e.g. MSP in the winter, easy to swap to a sedan even when it cost way more to book, PHX easy to swap to an SUV because they have so many of them).
We're picking in in SF downtown where there seem to be fewer options - with that and the reluctance to 'upgrade', I don't think it'll happen! |
What's the current selection of cars at SFO? I have a booking for this weekend for a Luxury (BMW 4 Series Coupe).

Finished my US trip, and none of the BMW (740i, X5, X4) I've rented has the adaptive cruise. Is it just me that I don't know how to activate it? All are latest models.
