Hi,

My husband and I have a pre-paid booking in Avignon in July. We are meeting up with friends a few days later, about 150 miles away. My question is this – is it possible to add one of our friends as an additional driver without them being present when we pick the car up?

Thanks,
Mel

That is quite upsetting, when I tried to make the online booking I didn't have this option on the Canadian website, only thing I did is I selected automatic prefered does this mean anything, seeing that there is an option on the UK website for automatic? Is it possible to rebook without a rebooking fee for that class with automatic, I do understand that it causes a price difference or is it best to just wait till I get to the airport and see if I can get an upgrade even if a cost is involved?

Platinum discount

Am I mistaken that there should be a discount rental price for Platinum status members? I do not notice any difference in price. When I go on-line to get quotes on rentals the price is the same rather I login or use a different browser not logged in. I also received an email stating I could get up to a 20% discount since today is my birthday. I still do not see any difference in price.

Hi,

If I prepay for a 2 week rental out of LHR and return after 12 days. I assume my rate does not get recalculated to 12 days (which could prove more thean the original booking amount). All I will pay is the original pre paid 2 week hire?

Hi,

An additional driver must be present at the branch in order to be added to the rental contract. However they can be added at any time during the rental period and at any Sixt location.

If you require any further information, please let me know.

Thanks, Ruth.

Hi,

Sometimes when booking online, you are already receiving a special offer so no further discount is applied. Can you please send me a private message with your platinum card number and also details of the booking you are wishing to place so that I can check this for you.

Thanks, Ruth.

Hi,

I can confirm that for returning after 12 days you would not be charged any extra and the rpice will remain at the prepaid rate.

I hope this helps, if you need anything else, please let me know.

Thanks, Ruth,

Problem with booking in Tenerife Luxury Cars

Hello all,

I was wondering if I could get some help with an ongoing issue with your reservations dept.

I will be going in May on holidays to Tenerife. I searched for car rental options for sometime and initially decided to opt from a local supplier (called pluscar) as they had a good deal on a mercedes E class convertible (of 359€ for the rental). I did however afterwards decided to change my mind and rather go with Sixt as I wanted the satisfaction of having the quality of service and pristine conditions of cars that Sixt offers. I accepted a rate of about 550€, e.g. a premium of nearly 200€ in order to get the assurance of the sixt premium quality. The rate was a prepaid rate, e.g. cxx comes with a penalty.

But I had a very bad surprise when I received the booking confirmation that said that this rental will be handled by a "local partner" called Canarias. In my experience local partners are always a promise for a bad surprise, and I found ridicoulous to pay a premium of 200€ to finally end up again being dealt by a local supplier rather than by sixt.

I feel this is not threating customers fairly, as there was no proper disclosure of this during the booking process, the rental location is called "Tenerife Luxury Cars" throughout the process and I think you will agree that "Sixt Tenerife Luxury Cars" sounds very different from "Outsourced to local supplier". This is really anoying given that this is a prepaid rate. If this was a rate that could be cancelled without penalties I would have cancelled the booking and not bothered with all this. Clearly, if proper disclosure had been done prior to the booking, I would have not opted for Sixt but rather gone to the local supplier Pluscar.

Can you help me this? I would like either be offered a free cxx on the booking or to have the price matched to what I would have obtained with my initial option throught a local supplier (I can prove that I made such booking with local supplier at 359€).

Many thanks for your help,

Christophe

Hi there. I just received a call from Sixt San Diego for an upcoming rental and was told (passed down from management) that because I have an XCAR reservation, that I cannot be upgraded any higher than this.

I am a platinum member and was only hoping for a minor upgrade to a convertible. I know for a fact that convertible in this class shows availability on the website and that there are cars well above this class showing availability - XDAR, CLS 55 AMG, Tesla, and even a Rolls Royce.

Are they simply telling me that they do not feel like offering me an upgrade? I've never had a problem receiving an upgrade on XCAR in the past, so I'm pretty sure that's not corporate policy... This is my first time renting from Sixt SAN and I made the reservation months in advance. What's going on?

lucky dip booking

Hi,

I had a lucky dip booking from DUB that started last weekend (Saturday evening). I was given a Mini ONE 4 door and brand new. I was concerned at the time that I would not be able to get my car seats into it when I arrived at my final destination. (the kids were travelling with a family member from the Airport). When I tried to fit the seats I could but there is not leg room from the kids; their feet are resting on the front seats.

Before the rental I was told by customer service that as a PLAT I could be given an A4 but for a Euro10 per day charge but that this was basically my only option there were no other cars in Dublin

So while I understand that I was upgraded to a Luxury car, is there anyway that I can be downgraded so that my kids aren't squashing their legs trying to get into the car.

You never rented but always got an upgrade. Read the policy and you will find out that upgrade is not guaranteed and not for all classes. If you want a convertible ( not really an upgrade ) just book it

"Free upgrade to the next car group and a double upgrade in U.S. locations.**
**Subject to availability, not valid for long-term rentals, special cars, motorcycles or trucks. The possibility of receiving an upgrade is only valid for up to 12 months from the issue date of the card. This advantage remains valid when you rent more than 10 times per 12 months with Sixt. "

I would not consider XTAR a 'special car' such as a Telsa, AMG, M, Rolls Royce. The double-upgraded is outlined in platinum benefits, subject to availability. According to the reservation website, there is availability. My point is simply that it doesn't make much sense to offer a benefit if it can be denied on a whim.

Also, you do make a good point that if I want to be certain to receive a 'vert, I should book that class. I can't argue with that, and I would if the current rate was not 6x my XCAR rate that I jumped on months ago. At this point, I'm just trying to figure out the policy and what the plan is if I cannot be upgraded. I am also a National EE with plenty of free days, so I guess it would not hurt to duplicate book just in case. However, I'm very much hoping Sixt works out.

If I remember correctly, booking an XCAR might get you into an XFAR (X5, ML, GL, Escalade). I don't think they can upgrade you any higher without you paying an upgrade fee.
