With having a Platinum status and the potential of upgrade options, am I better off to keep the Blazer, or change to the GMC?

this will be my first reservation with Sixt and I have platinum status via a status match.

The GMC Arcadia is a larger vehicle and holds more passengers and luggage.

I understand that, my question is from a standpoint of being upgraded, which reservation am better off to have say... if I am hoping to upgrade to an X5?

Lovely service from the girl at the desk. The self selection on the app wasn't showing anything good - A3, TT and paid upgrades to an A4 Avant, 3 Touring, A5 Sportback or a 5 sedan. So ended up not choosing anything and the girl gave me the 5 series for no extra cost.

Thanks!

How in the world did an A3 make it into the self selections offered? Not even same category, that's a downgrade. The ask for a paid upgrade for an A4 Avant or 3-Series Touring is just petty. Yes, it's officially a one category upgrade (that more often than not costs like 1 Euro extra at booking time), but quite pathetic for a station like MUC (airport I assume). is all I can say about that. In cases like this, usually I also select nothing and "roll the dice".

It was pretty disappointing to see the A3 and TT being offered even though they were brand new with only a few kms on them. I did almost choose the 3 Touring (also brand new). I'll definitely be rolling the dice next time too.
Yes was the airport. Only thing I can think of is that it was super late - around 23:00 so they probably ran out of cars.

Thanks!

Using the app they offered the X3 with only 4k miles as a free upgrade. Standard X3 with nothing special, but much much better than the original Toyota.
Other options in the app:
GMC Acadia: + USD 44 per day
Chevy Traverse: + USD 44 per day
BMW X5: + USD 90 per day
Toyota Sienna: + USD 36 per day
Chrysler Pacifica: + USD 36 per day

Considering the price approx 10€ more than a Polo, it was worth it, even if the car itself was nothing special. Based on my quick look around the Sixt garage @ VIE it seemed like one of the oldest cars in their fleet.

First time using Sixt.

What kind of Cupra did you get? I assume it was the Formentor SUV, but if MXP has Cupra hatchbacks, would be good to know.

Even though I think they charge more for the FFAR, I didn't like the XC40.
It was too big, not very economical (even though a mild hybrid) and topped out at 185kph.
Some upgrades are downgrades..

Got a phone call 2 hours before scheduled pickup from the branch saying that they had no EVs available anywhere in Munich, but that they could give me a gas car. (Sorry not trying to pay 2 Euro/liter for gas.) We were able to locate a station an hour outside of Munich that had a BMW iX that we were able to book, but it was significantly more expensive. After some haggling with online support, we were able to get them to match the original price we paid and got the BMW.

Takeaway: just because it shows a car available doesn't mean it actually is.

Rented at EWR today. Once again, the app eagerly offered me nothing but upgrades: I had reserved a BMW 5 Series, and the app only had BMW x7s and Infiniti Q80s for me, that I would have had to pay $$$ for.

I then had to wait 45 minutes for a car to appear because they were all sold out of luxury sedans. It was plain awkward to have that conversation as we looked out the window at rows and rows of BMW X1s, X3s, and even a really nice looking x4. I said I'd happily take any lux vehicle, but "they had none." At some point, this became ridiculous because the app is TELLING ME they have an x7, so they DO have one, they just want me to pay for it even though they dont have any other car to give me. Took behind the scenes cajoling before I was finally and begrudgingly given an X7 (with 39k miles).

What's your status?

Rented: Land Rover
Given: X5
Location: Denver

Management apparently refused to give me the one of the two land rovers they had sitting there because it was only a "1 day rental". Instead of canceling my res they waited till I was there and told me to pay rack rate for an X5. I came back and both rovers sitting in the same exact spots. Complained to Corporate as they basically bait and switched me and had no choice to take that cause I'd pay rack rate anywhere else for a luxury vehicle. Paid $250 for an X5 where they do it for $130 when I originally booked the rover for $400... Think I'll be done with Sixt if they don't offer some sort of compensation.

Booked: Opel Corsa or similar.
Received: Skoda Scala.
Location: Athens Airport.

Arrived just before 1am - very quiet.
Attendant was friendly and offered the choice of - Kia Ceed/Fiat Tipo/Skoda Scala. Had choice of manual or automatic.
Was transparent regarding existing vehicle damage.
Drop off was very efficient (I was running extremely late - 45 mins until take off). Quick return - less than 1 minute (fuel and damage check).

Very good deal considering I only paid €24 for a 1 day rental.

Thanks!
