VIE Fleet
Does anyone have recent experience with the fleet at VIE? I have a family road trip coming up, and the choices are a bit opaque. I reserved PFMR ("Premium SUV"), an Alfa-Romeo Stelvio or similar. This is substantially more expensive than the "BMW X1 or similar" ("Premium Sedan") or the "Range Rover Evoque or similar" (SUV). It would be silly to pay extra 40% for the Stelvio over the X1 or the Evoque, but it looks like I could get a Mazda CX5 instead of an Evoque and an Insignia instead of an X1. Notably, Sixt couldn't confirm with the X1 guaranteed model option. What might I get? I have a Sixt Platinum card, for what it's worth. I reserved a Nissan Qashqai elsewhere for about half the Sixt PFMR, but I'd be fine paying double for the Stelvio over the Qashqai. |

As good as they were once, nowadays they are just a bunch of liars. Being a platinum member they wanted me to pay for an upgrade from P*** to L***. they told me the free platinum upgrade would be a PF** car, LD** would only be a free upgrade if there was no PF** available. Right… what an absolute bs. However, as I insisted and after lots of talking in the end they reluctantly gave me the LW** for free. Next time there they seemed to remember me and they knew I wasn’t dumb enough to pay for a P*** -> L*** upgrade. So they just told me there was no L*** available. Interestingly, I had an choice of 4 (!!) different available LDAR cars as a (paid) choice-upgrade in the app – well, as said, just a bunch of liars. I try to avoid them since then. Status; express Booked; BMW 5 serie automatic PDAR recieved; 530e iPerformance (hybrid) First they had a Mercedes for me, if I want a Merc I will call an Uber. Next best thing was a Audi A5, asked what was also available and they had a nice BMW 6 series upgrade (paid), declined in the hope they would give it to me. Asked if they had a diesel available, was offered a Jaguar XF sportbreak. Then it was a 520i touring on which I agreed (wanted a bmw)! When they called the carpark they just got a bmw 530e back. Not an upgrade, but the perfect car for the 1100km in 3 days... 254HP was a real treat...well specked with leather, comfort seats, HUD display and professional Navi. 6.2 to 100kph/62mph:cool: |

Platinum Booked BMW 3 series automatic or equivalent Allocated Jaguar F Pace Received BMW X5 M30D fully loaded with only 2500kms on the clock. I got this after asking if there was a German alternative to the Jaguar. Also offered an Audi A6 Avant too. A lovely car for a couple of days driving around the Veneto hills. Another great rental from Sixt. The team at Venice were lovely. |
