Booked: BMW X7 Received: Cadillac Escalade Location: LAS Was initially asked if i wanted something nicer, was told they had a Bentley, but it sounded like that would be a paid upgrade so i declined. Kept suggesting alternative cars "because the X7 is not ready yet". Including two different downgrades markedet as "upgrades". Eventually pushed the Escalade, which he said was an upgrade, because i booked XFAZ and the Escalade was XFAL |
Sixt Caribbean
Some recent DPs from a trip to the Caribbean renting from 3 different locations.
Status: Platinum PTP airport (Guadeloupe) Rented: VW Polo manual or similar Received: Opel Corsa automatic FDF airport (Martinique) Rented: Renault Clio manual or similar Offered: Dacia Duster manual (I turned down the upgrade opting for the Clio in favor of the smaller car) Castries Cruise Terminal (St. Lucia) Rented: Subaru XV or similar Received: Toyota Yaris Cross I figure this is more or less similar to the XV, maybe slightly larger, but still a small SUV. It's worth noting that the 2 day rental in St. Lucia cost more than a week in either Guadeloupe or Martinique. |

Rented: Land Rover Given: X5 Location: Denver Management apparently refused to give me the one of the two land rovers they had sitting there because it was only a "1 day rental". Instead of canceling my res they waited till I was there and told me to pay rack rate for an X5. I came back and both rovers sitting in the same exact spots. Complained to Corporate as they basically bait and switched me and had no choice to take that cause I'd pay rack rate anywhere else for a luxury vehicle. Paid $250 for an X5 where they do it for $130 when I originally booked the rover for $400... Think I'll be done with Sixt if they don't offer some sort of compensation. |

did you end up getting some form of compensation? I would be really annoyed if this happened to me!!
They gave me my money back after I said I'd just charge back and go to using a competitor. |

Location - DUS
Status: Platinum Reserved: LWAR (Luxury Wagon) in DUS Received: VW Tourareg (XFAR) Tourareg XFAR would not be allowed in Prague.. so I had to downgrade back to LWAR. An Audi A6 45 TDI with 326HP Competition Package.. sweet! Had flat tire so I switched it for A7 in Paris, with puny 235-hp TDI and was not well equipped.. but they said it was allowed in Prague. I know Germany considers it X something which would not be allowed in Prague. |
Location - TBS (Tbilisi Airport)
Status: Platinum Booked: Hyundai Accent Received: Hyundai Elantra -22000km, basic spec not even cruise control or touchscreen. Extremely economical though- 4.7l per 100km Someone from the Sixt will meet you at the information desk and walk you to your car (they don't have a desk at the airport). Very professional - lots of pictures of the car + fuel level and extensive walk around of existing damage. Thanks! |
Location - AGP (Malaga Airport)
Status: Platinum Booked: FWAR (Audi A4 Avant Auto or equivalent) Offered: Various options on app including Audi A5, A6 and a rather nice fully loaded A4 Avant Quattro Sport which I chose. Received: FWAR - Audi A4 Avant Quattro Sport I just chose the car on the app. The agent did offer me some other upgrade options at the desk (they had lots of cars available) but as I was taking the car to small villages I didn't want anything bigger. As it was the A4 only just fitted into some very narrow roads and parking spaces! Nice friendly team and the car was very clean. |
