Received: XCAR - BMW 5er

Quiet week in MIA as Sixt/National/Hertz all had rates 66% less than usual. Without fail, Sixt agent didn't offer Platinum upgrade until asked. Haven't driven a 5 in a while and last time was in Germany. The US fleet is really bare bones. This 5er had Navi but no parking sensor, no rearview camera etc.

I booked a CLA and was told that I was getting upgraded to a Yukon. I said no thanks and then was told that they actually didn't have any other cars.

Question:

With platinum status, If i book Suburban SUV (FFAR) what would be or should be the upgrade class for me? Would it be (XFAR) SUV e.g. BMW X5 or MB-GL?

Thank you. This forum is great i am learning so much from here by reading alots and alots.

Hi,

If you were to book an FFAR then the platinum upgrade would take you to a PFAR which would be a Volvo XC90, BMW X1 or Volvo XC60. This is of course subject to fleet availabilty as the upgrade is not guaranteed.

I hope this helps!

Bit of a late post but...

Status: Platinum
When: June 2014
Location: Nice Airport (NCE) France
Booked: BMW 3 Series Touring
Received: BMW X6 4.0d

Sixt at NCE always seem to look after me on my annual 2-weeker. Got a lovely fully loaded X6 for 2 weeks trawling around the south of France. See you again in July.

Status: Platinum match with Club Carlson
Location: LAX
Booked: SCAR
Received (after a couple of phone calls and pressing): PCAR. Picked up a Volvo S60, two days later traded it in for a BMW 228i. Also had a Chrysler 300 and a couple of Audi A3s - in theory. In practice, both A3s needed oil changes, so I happily waited for the Beem to show up. No Merc CLAs.

I like the 2er more than the 3er.

So do I.

I had asked them about the 2er from the get-go, even before the rental commenced. They didn't have it but told me that one would come in later. Later never materialized (that was last night). This morning I went over to LAX to planespot and try my luck once again. Upon arrival, I was hugely disappointed as they barely had PCARs (except a couple 300s and an A3 that was marked "needs oil change"). The girls at the counter called their offsite lot, found another A3 and were going to give me it, but then it turned out it, too, needed an oil change. I was offered a 328i, first for an extra $22/day, then I talked them back down to the same $10/day I was offered initially. As I was about to pick that one up, a 228i rolled in, but was a little dirty which I couldn't have cared less about. Drove the thing all over L.A. today and am totally in love. Steering feels feather light compared to the S60 (of course it would for RWD vs AWD) and is definitely lighter than the 3er, so the 240 hp is more than adequate and the torque is immense.

Don't recall seeing either one... They had Suburbans, but I don't remember any other SUVs.
