On my flight to Manchester I sat in 11A, and on the Manchester to Singapore I was able to change to the bulkhead seat in row 19. Much nicer, but still a tight squeeze length wise if you are over 59 and want to lay on your back in a straight position. Im 5 8.5 and was just touching the bulkhead. The bed felt rock hard to me though.

I agree that the positioning is pretty awkward. I’m 6’2” (and shrinking, LOL), and I felt like a pretzel. I also thought the bed was hard.. still and all, I managed 8 hours of sleep on the flight. This was SFO-HKG andreturn, so it was on a 77W. But we were on a 359 from SIN-HKG and the s3at seemed similar.

+1. Awkward angle, small cubby hole and hard bed are my main gripes. A somewhat failed J product in my book as decent sleep is what I want business class for. I prefer the regional seat on the 787s and regional A359s nowadays, but long haul I can only stand a 77W bulkhead. Not looking forward to my two SQ A359 longhaul flights.

I've seen mention of the A350-900 regional config but no pictures or details. Is there a thread with info on that? Seats are staggered I know so I was just wondering does that mean the bulkhead has no advantage unlike the A350 config being discussed in this thread where the seats are in a straight line and the bulkhead has a huge advantage? If its staggered like their 787-10 then you dont have to sleep on the angle but I also dont believe the bulkhead is large & ottomon/not cubby set up. Just trying to select seats for a short 3 hours regional flight and curious. Thanks

Kind of bummed though, didnt realize there was even this special regional A350 with totally diff seats. No way they are 28 wide. Just like the 787 how can SQ say 30 in wide. Both look 20-21 max.. Seat Guru just wrong on this I guess ? The regular A350 set up those seats look huge. 3 hour flight its not big deal I'm sure this will be better than the A330 which is the other option.

it is wide enough for you to sleep on. So should be no issue.

Thx for the video. I'd be disappointed I think getting that plane if it was a 7 hour flight to HND or something similar. I mean I'm sure its nice but the normal A350 seats look so much more massive and the bulkhead looks like First class.. I've never flown A380 or 777 with SQ so booked A350 (over the 787 or A330) to experience their more normal J hard product. Didnt realize there was a regional A350 set up. . No big deal though but I am curious how can this seat (and the 787) be listed at 28-30 wide? Is that just a goof by seat guru? These seats look smaller than AA 789 or 77W J seats. I think I read they are 20 only.

Per some sources, the 787-10 is stated as 26 inches and the A350 regional as 22 inches. Consensus appears to be that these measurements are with the armrests lowered.
As for the A330, SQ confirmed last year they are being retired from the fleet.

Interesting.. in pics the actual seat looks 20 and the 787 looks the same maybe 21. Interesting on the A330's, I went out of my way to get a 787 one way and a350 regional on the way back but I guess by April if there are no A330's then the other flights will all be 787 or A350 regional (this is Bkk-Sin-Bkk)

Frankly speaking, this regional business seat is much better than the A330 or those offer by Cathay. For BKK to SIN, it is only 2 hours flight. So basically you wont be sleeping at all.
I cant remember the seat width but it is wide. enough. You definitely cant compare it to the long haul business class seat.

The SQ schedule may still show A330 on some routes like BKK or DPS even in 2022. It is just not cleaned up in the schedule yet. There will be no A330 operating any of those flights.
On the A350 Regional seat, it is fine in my book even to places like HND or NRT and at least you can sit and sleep straight without angling your body.
The bulkhead makes no difference in that case unlike on the long haul seat. Yes, it can feel a bit tight in direct comparison to the long haul A359 or ULR Biz seat. Best way is to lower the armrest, certainly no hardship on a 3hrs hop.
If you want to try out the "wide" Biz seat plan another route for the future if you can. Now you know and it is not like SQ does a bait and switch seat wise here. If you look around you will also have a hard time to find other carriers that even offer a fully flat Biz seat on such short routes (e.g. CX certainly doesn't and we don't even need to talk about US Domestic F or Intra-European Biz - shudder). YMMV.
