New refrigerators filled with food for purchase at various admirals clubs
I’ve noticed in the past week at clubs in both DFW and MIA that there appear to be new refrigerators in the clubs with self service food for purchase. It looks like you swipe your credit card and then some sort of camera system or something detects what you took and charges your card. Has anyone else noticed these and tried them? Was the food better than other options?

They just installed them a couple months ago at MIA. DFW has had them for 6+ months, I'd guess. I think a number of people (including myself) walk up to the fridge wondering if it's free stuff and then walk away upon realizing it's for purchase. If I'm gonna buy stuff in the AC, I'd rather order it... but nothing wrong with having the option of a vending machine.

I've seen at DFW A club as well. I've taken a look. Seemed to be similar to 7-11/Hudson News (convenience store) food....prepackaged and chilled sandwiches, salads, etc. I'd rather order something freshly made.

Was it better than the to-go items they were giving out at LAX during the club renovations? Or are the Admiral's Clubs now getting Spiritized too?

I saw these at the CLT club. I think people are seeing these wrong; they're not substitutes necessarily for food items in the Club. They are there to provide passengers with the option of buying items to take on board the plane - especially when service on the plane is extremely limited. It looks awkward but I see the business case for them. Why stop at Hudson News or Burger King to buy something en route to the gate when you can do it while sitting at the A/C.

Again, passengers who use AC already have paid premium, and get ripped off in return.
