I saw these at the CLT club. I think people are seeing these wrong; they're not substitutes necessarily for food items in the Club. They are there to provide passengers with the option of buying items to take on board the plane - especially when service on the plane is extremely limited. It looks awkward but I see the business case for them. Why stop at Hudson News or Burger King to buy something en route to the gate when you can do it while sitting at the A/C.
IMO, it would be wiser to give them away on request. Your AC members largely are business and regular travelers, ones that contribute extensively to your margins.
