From yesterday’s flight to Amman.

I was at the very back in row 12. I asked the cabin crew if people had been complaining about the starters going MIA. She looked very confused until her colleague jumped in and said ‘he means the salad pots’. She then replied ‘no, then. No one has noticed’

I thought this was interesting, that on a full club flight, no one had commented on the meals changing and perhaps shows that the average passenger doesn’t really care?

The paneer jalfrezi was really good. Tasty and spicy but not overwhelmingly so. One of the better Club Europe meals.

We got the cake, but interestingly handed out immediately after the meal. I thought it was meant to be a pre-landing snack? Sadly cake was not good, bone dry and very heavy and dense.

No snack baskets and no pro-active bar services post-dinner but crew were very friendly and reactive to the call bell.

I think that’s the first photo of the “tea and cake” service. One of our valuable insiders said it was supposed to be done later in the flight, and in addition to the snack basket.

Two flights yesterday in Club Europe.
GVA-LGW 1110 departure. No menu. Ploughman’s and vegetarian ploughman’s offered. Cabin crew kept referring to it as a ploughman’s salad, which with a single lettuce leaf on the plate, may be somewhat of a stretch.
Ploughman’s came with bread roll and dessert.

LGW-AGP 1445 departure.
ploughman’s again, but this time with scone and jam, and mini sweet tart type thing. Passenger next to me refused food as no suitable options without cheese. He complained to crew and asked for some bread, but the bread roll has been eliminated so they had nothing. Crew’s response was more or less “this is a short flight, what do you expect?”. While the ploughman’s meal was nice, I do think it would benefit from a bread roll, otherwise you’re left with a wedge of cheese and lake of branston pickle.

Service on both flights was good, with no shortage of drinks available, even on the 8 row LGW AGP sector.

Final thought is that there is no variety with the ploughmans. Are they going to mix it up month by month?

so ploughman's isn't even confined to 1400-1700? i wonder whether there is ploughman's salad for times outside the afternoon tea times, and a ploughmans tea for 1400-1700?

i thought i had managed to make sense of all these changes, but apparently not!

I thought I saw upthread that the Ploughman’s was being offered as a salad option? At least you’d get a bread roll instead of a scone, though with the lottery that is now CE catering who knows!

I do feel sorry for pax who have dairy allergies on the now downgraded routes. I wonder what a low lactose Ploughman’s Tea special meal looks like? 🤔

From what’s been posted so far, it seems like all the cold options from and to Gatwick after breakfast are now ploughman’s tea or ‘salad’. I guess we only have limited datapoints so far but I’d be interested to see if anyone’s had a cold meal after breakfast time that isn’t ploughman’s-based.

The last few times I ordered a low lactose meal in CE, it was vegetarian sushi (multi purpose special meal that covers all eventualities) so I gave up and just don't eat now if the only options have cheese on them. Would be interesting to see what the low lactose meal is now on shorter daytime flights.

I think another explanation is (i) people know that complaining to the crew often isn’t going to do anything and (ii) people aren’t often frequent fliers - they may be unsatisfied by the mean but not know that it is in part due to a recent cutback.

We had this but ours was an eclair with what looked like a Nutella filling. I did not fancy it, so my husband ate both. Frankly, I cannot see the benefit of a bread roll. What surprised me was that there was Chicken, albeit a minute piece on the plate. I would have expected ham more than chicken ? Suffice to say that it is hardly meal but it is an improvement on those dainty finger sandwiches.

What ?! LGW to AGP is not a short flight. The crew (and BA) really are taking the mickey…

Presumably the ham is on the same naughty step as the pork sausage and bacon missing from a recent breakfast I had.

Have the shorter LCY flights survived the breakfast cut backs? LCY-DUB etc. still getting the cooked breakfast option?

Cityflyer catering remains as before: AMS and RTM get a hot breakfast muffin, all other routes a cooked breakfast (if more than 24 booked in Club, meals 25-38 will be a fruit plate)

new menu for February. I didn’t fancy the chicken so I went for the truffle rigatoni and it was very nice but I forgot to take a photo, sorry!

The Primitivo is nice enough but I wish they’d bring the fantastic Zinfandel back. It’s one of the few wines you can actually taste at altitude!

Something that I learned last year in Puglia, is that Primitivo is Zinfandel (originating as Tribidrag in Croatia)
Cheers
