Management changes
We did a quick one night stay at the hotel last weekend. Noticed that some staff members have left the hotel. The General Manager (Harish Nair) is now been replaced by Alex Gares (previously Renaissance Bali and The Mandapa).
The F&B Manager, Mr. Anton, also left the hotel and is now working in Jakarta again. Mr. Anton (pak Anton) was a real asset for the hotel so it's sad to see he is no longer working anymore at The Sira. Could see some changes in the breakfast setup as well: de breakfast menu is more compact and there is also a small buffet. The buffet was placed outside and whilst I can understand their intentions, it was not very well executed in my opinion. A lot of items (including glasses) were not refilled quickly enough. Not a very big deal, but I was obviously more a fan of the previous full a la carte configuration.
Did not notice a lot of other changes big changes. The welcome amenity is now far more substantial then before, which is nice. Many staff members came from all over Indonesia, but mainly from busy places. The Sira is located near Tanjung and there is not so much to do there, so it's kind of hard for the staff. Driving to Senggigi takes around 35 to 40 minutes and Mataram takes even longer. According to other staff members, this is the main reason for people to leave the hotel for other places.
On the beach (go left) is a nice warung. We decided to eat there in the evening and it's a recommended option with very good fresh fish.

The A-la-Carte breakfast is the best breakfast I have ever had at any hotel. It was incredible, particularly that French toast! The breakfast is enough of a reason to go back to that hotel so it is a shame if it is no longer the same.
I think they should provide some kind of shuttle to the Gilli islands from the beach themselves, as it seems an obvious way to provide activities for guests to visit and is very, very close.

Gilis
So How did you all go to Gili Islands from the Sira?
Nearby hotels, such as Oberoi or Tugu has their own boats that can take in-house guests for snorkeling or sunset boat tour straight from their beach and it seems quite a waste of the location
if the Sira do not have their own boat or at least using boat tours from selected local companies.

Anything the Sira offered was highly marked up, for obvious reasons. Taxi prices they offer, even for a very local trip, were way higher than what any local or other company would offer.
If it were me, I'd seek out a trusted local provider to get over there.

I will pm you as I dont want to put the number out on the public forum but yes I was very happy with them. They collected and dropped us on the Sira beach.
You will need to negotiate prices, and Im not sure how good their English is as my partner is Indonesian so Id recommend translating and sending a message through WhatsApp.
Also if you go to Lombok check out BASK on Gili Meno just across the water 10 mins boat ride:

Currently back at the hotel for a short one night staycation. Happy to report that the buffet is gone. Also, the menu is back to the "original" menu including the Go Coco Lombo (which was gone during my last stay a few weeks ago, but still available as an off menu item).

I note from Instagram they have now added a jacuzzi/relaxation pool to the hotel which appears to be by the ground floor rooms. I don’t actually know if those are rooms but from my time staying there I felt that there wouldn’t be much demand for those rooms as they have no views due to being at ground level and it seems maybe they agreed as they were not in use in May last year when I visited and now appear to be used for a new spa facility.

I'm considering a stay here on points but slightly worried about being isolated and with only average but expensive food options during the day. Does anyone have some photos of their menus to gauge pricing? I see recent reference to a local warung which is a nice additional option.
Edit: I've found their graphics design company has uploaded a menu they worked on at Island Table but its in a seizure inducing gif format: https://newman.id/wp-content/uploads...otion-page.gif

Youre not isolated. You have the Gili islands a 10 minute boat ride across the water that you can get lifts from arranged by local people - check the thread for suggestions.
There are other hotels around as well, and about an hour away is a city with everything. Although that does require a taxi unless you rent a car.
I would strongly recommend spending time in the Gillis and getting a boat from the Sira beach. Whilst its not easy to reach the town its possible and I went almost everyday I was at the Sira.

The trade off is that the Laguna looks older and the rooms uninspiring whereas The Sira looks new and spectacular with some very nice rooms as NUA.
If you could also PM me your boat captain contact and perhaps what sort of fee was being charged for shuttles to the Gilis that would be much appreciated.

Just recently finished a 5 night points stay using NUAs for a 2 bedroom villa suite with private pool. I highly recommend the resort. This link has everything you need to know including menus and pricing. https://linktr.ee/thesiralombok
You can walk 10-15 minutes down the beach (or along a gravel road parallel to the beach) to the Sira Beach Bar if you want to easily eat outside of the resort. We ate there once and it was good and much less expensive.

I accept that the Sira isnt in a Nusa Dua with multiple restaurants and shopping areas around the corner.
I also dont rate any of the places on the beach. They were cheap however so thats a benefit. Id say actually car rental would be my recommendation if you do want to leave the hotel and explore.
Grab and Bluebird are available and cheaper than the Sira cars but they may or may not be available. As I said in my video the first few days I was easily able to get a grab from the hotel and after that I couldnt find one at all. Use a Bluebird taxi but even that wasnt a sure thing. It seems renting a car would provide more flexibility and would be cheaper than using the Sira cars if you wanted to go to Mataram regularly. However if youre just going to go to another hotel nearby to eat thats over doing it.
I really, really cant stress this enough that my number one recommendation is to go the Gili islands - they are so close and very beautiful.
