Management changes
We did a quick one night stay at the hotel last weekend. Noticed that some staff members have left the hotel. The General Manager (Harish Nair) is now been replaced by Alex Gares (previously Renaissance Bali and The Mandapa).
The F&B Manager, Mr. Anton, also left the hotel and is now working in Jakarta again. Mr. Anton (pak Anton) was a real asset for the hotel so it's sad to see he is no longer working anymore at The Sira. Could see some changes in the breakfast setup as well: de breakfast menu is more compact and there is also a small buffet. The buffet was placed outside and whilst I can understand their intentions, it was not very well executed in my opinion. A lot of items (including glasses) were not refilled quickly enough. Not a very big deal, but I was obviously more a fan of the previous full a la carte configuration.
Did not notice a lot of other changes big changes. The welcome amenity is now far more substantial then before, which is nice. Many staff members came from all over Indonesia, but mainly from busy places. The Sira is located near Tanjung and there is not so much to do there, so it's kind of hard for the staff. Driving to Senggigi takes around 35 to 40 minutes and Mataram takes even longer. According to other staff members, this is the main reason for people to leave the hotel for other places.
On the beach (go left) is a nice warung. We decided to eat there in the evening and it's a recommended option with very good fresh fish.
