No chance to win any fleet age argument for LH group flying A340s, 744s, 767s, 772s, early A320s and the same 737s ordered but not delivered yet.

Also on minimum wage, CBA and tax avoidance it will be hard for LH with subsidiaries in Malta, wetleasing longterm financially unstable carriers (BRA and BT) even for Switzerland.

Not a Ryanair fanboy at all but I prefer the lesser evil. For me both FR and LH are now a LCC but LH is often much more expensive and less reliable. It became like taking the bus...

Did fly with a 737-max 8 with LOT this summer. I take any airbus or Embraer before. It felt very tight, very narrow aisle.

I hate LO MAX too, if I don't have a window aligned with my shoulders, I have no way to sit comfortably without leaning towards the middle seat, which is of course a problem if someone's sitting there. No idea why this is, since I believe they are just as wide as "normal" 737s where I don't experience this issue.

I dont know if this is just a feeling, but 737 of any type always seems less spacious than A320 series. I really notice it if I connx on TK from, say, A321 to 737. Seen from row 1 as the door is closed, it always seems like the side with the door slopes inwards much more than Airbus. The galley on the right seems more cramped.

A320 family cabin is wider always, plus the 737 fuselage doesn't achieve it's full width until quite far down the cabin. I think this is a facet of the history of the fuselage first built as a 707 with very different expectations of what would be going on in the front.

And a testament to that design's longevity and influence that a derivative is still in production and widespread service, 73 years after the original design was finalized. Its form around the cockpit was recognizable in every airliner until B787 returned to the Comet/Caravelle aesthetic. 70 years ago its test pilot Tex Johnston (who also was a test pilot for the B-47 and XB-52) made a barrel roll in front of the public -- as you do.

At least with LH I know that I will not be made standing in the rain next to a plane waiting for the previous passengers to get off.

Errrrm. Based on my experience I would not take that for granted.
It happened to me that we got dropped off (in the rain) and then upstairs at the door "sorry, we're not ready yet".
Not all airports have stairs with a roof.

Considering LH‘s pricing I find the entire thread inconclusive.
When I regularly have to pay in excess of EUR 800 for a 1h flight, I fail to associate that with the term low-cost.

Low cost for the airline, not for the customer

FR STN-EIN out today evening, in tomorrow evening, GBP 460...570+ depending on perks, and not an outlier. Insane prices can be found at all levels.
But I get the point made.

What do you expect, if you book so tight? Lot of LH flights are quite full, so dont expect charity.

I've heard reports that some older engineers often asked (even into at least the 1990s): "If it worked on the 707, why do we need to re-do it?"

Ooh, touchy. I merely reflected that the "real LCC"s can also collect money in not so low-cost manner, like LH does in similar circumstances.

You are right. On TSV-SYD you were either stuck with an ancient 717 or now an Alliance Airlines E190. Or you can fly Death Star. The same is true if you are flying on a Dash-8 to LDH, no meal there either. So I should have qualified my statement to Qantas mainline. With the introduction of the A220s, we will see a much better experience coming to lots of Qantas Link flights as well.

It depends. In some aircraft you have seatback screens, in others you have streaming to your device. The latter is certainly the direction they are moving towards (A220, A321XLR etc).
