You are right. On TSV-SYD you were either stuck with an ancient 717 or now an Alliance Airlines E190. Or you can fly Death Star. The same is true if you are flying on a Dash-8 to LDH, no meal there either. So I should have qualified my statement to Qantas mainline. With the introduction of the A220s, we will see a much better experience coming to lots of Qantas Link flights as well.

It depends. In some aircraft you have seatback screens, in others you have streaming to your device. The latter is certainly the direction they are moving towards (A220, A321XLR etc).
