Amex (USA) personal Platinum Oura ring benefit

Is the once a year Oura credit matching the expected lifespan of the device?

I suspect there will be a metric ton of Oura gen3 devices showing up on eBay any day now.

these devices tend to have easily a 2-3 year lifespan before the battery starts to fade 10-15%..or damage.. with this benefit it probably means a new Ring is available every 1.5-2 years (their new rings tend to come about 2-2.5 yrs on avg) and then just ebay or sell or gift the old ring to someone else. Its an interesting benefit and Id like to see more of it.. maybe they will put Eight Sleep on the docket at some point or other wellness products.

In many ways the Gen 3 is better in some ways the Gen 4 is better.. I think those who wanted the new ring have probably already made the move.

Am I misreading... the fine print says that the Oura credit is only for device purchase and not the ongoing fee? Seems bizarre for an "annual" credit and also doesn't fix the major reason I am not going to buy one.

can I just use the card at a restaurant that works with resy without a reservation? Thanks
You must charge the card at any point of sale that is coded as a Resy Restaurant. Use of Resy is not required.

Sign into your Lulu account and go to membership benefits: https://shop.lululemon.com/account/membership-benefits

Under the Explore Partner Perks heading is a link to Oura: https://ouraring.com/discount/lululemon

Following that link gives a $40 discount off of the Ring 4..

Oura rings are also FSA/HSA eligible. So you can pay with your Amex and then get reimbursed by your FSA/HSA if you have funds you need to use and pocket the Amex credit.

You can also save on shipping and pick up at BestBuy for no cost. Definitely will double dip and get reimbursed through HSA.

Was debating what to do about the Oura credit - buy an Oura 3 for $199, or spend $109 out of pocket for the Oura 4. This would be a winning strategy if it works. Does someone want to test it for me?

for people looking to buy oura ring ver3, there are some DPs of people not being able to complete payment and it seems oura is the culprit because they dont want to give a ring for free

there are some promo links for a gen4 ring

IDK I don't know the terms of their agreement, but putting Oura out as a main character in the benefits show rather then relegating them to "offers" seems to be a stretch to me. A discount on an overpriced product that requires a subscription hardly seems like a "benefit" to me. Sounds like Oura is good at marketing and lobbying as they say that these are HSA/FSA eligible as well.

what does this has anything to do with oura not allowing users to complete checkout for a oura v3 ring when using am amex plat card?

I wonder if Amex is excited about having merchants selectively decline their Plat card based on what products are being purchased.
