UA can move you, provided there is award space on the alternative day.

Long time lurker, first time poster.

We're on the same flight, in F! I saw in United's calendar that there was availability. Immediately called Aeroplan and booked it through the agent. They were shocked. Then I started to investigate if it was the old or new product and saw your comment that the flight changed. Also confirmed using EF and on ANA's website that it's The Suite!!!

This is my first ANA flight and my first time in F. I've only ever flown AC J as a biz product.

Has anyone tried upgrading from C to F using United PlusPoints? Flying SFO-NRT in 'The Room' later this month but won't get a PlusPoints deposit until next week, so I cannot even see if this is an option; UAL has a page specific to request an ANA upgrade using PP. I tried submitting a MileagePlus upgrade form, but got the 'The traveler has the same name as an existing traveler on this flight.', which I've seen people encounter on EVA, etc. Itinerary booked on a United 016x ticket, D,Z fare buckets.

It is possible to do, but it is not last seat availability. The magic number could seem to be at least 4 seats available in the cabin before it could happen.

And add to that, it typically only clears close to departure, which is when the 4 open seats are needed....

Best seats for lap child and couple?

Flying business ORD to Tokyo in 2026. Unfortunately it looks like the old config. Was really hoping to fly the suite. Booked via ANA. Is it worth upgrading to first if flying the old config? Just booked a dummy return flight so is it easier to get the return in business or first once that date opens?

also what are the best seats for bassinet/lap child?

Assigned aircraft can easily change between now and your flight date. I'd probably go for a window with a lap child, a bit more enclosed space. Business staggered is not great for spreading out anyway. For a bassinet the weight limit on ANA is 10kg.

I wouldn't recommend ANA old config with a lap child unless the child is small enough for the bassinet and you have a confirmed bassinet reservation. Only a very small number of seats can accommodate bassinets, and I believe ANA usually blocks those for people with bassinet requests.

I believe it's set to the old config by default. We originally booked two flights (NH11 and NH111) out of ORD for October, one year out just like you. Both flights showed the old config but were recently moved to the new config. There is a very high chance it will be switched to the new config.

On this topic, I still encountered problems using PlusPoints to request an upgrade. I called UAL a few, different times and they noted each time that I would have to convert my ticket from the UA[NH]7949 016x codeshare to the ANA "prime flight", NH7,8 etc. to put in for the upgrade. In doing so, I would lose out on a large amount of PQP because the partner cap would set in, so I left things as-is and guess I'll book NH another time to try again.

As long as it is on a 016 ticket, the earnings should not change whether it is codeshare or not. I have never heard of a partner cap on PQP on 016 tickets.

The agent said I would lose out on the PQPs so I didnt mess with it. Whether that is true or not, I do not know, but wasnt willing to take the potential risk. Will give it a try on a future itinerary. Appreciate the comments.

I'm fairly certain that you won't be subject to the PQP cap just because you switched to native flight numbers. The ticket was still issued by UA and is still on UA ticket stock 0016. If you are still worried, you could ask on the dedicated PP on NH thread in the UA subforum: Using PlusPoints on NH / ANA - FlyerTalk Forums

Hey yall im new here. I just booked ORD to NRT(J) - HND to ORD (F) for next March!

I wasn't able to secure F both ways and didn't wanna miss our time window, so I settled for J one way. I imagine the way of upgrading is find a seat, and call them? Anyways, that's not why I'm posting.

I couldn't find any data of when ORD flies the new planes as there's no fixed schedule, so I pumped 6moths worth of flight data into GPT to find the best ods of getting the new plane.
This is hardly scientific, and subject to change I'm sure. But here's what we determined based on available data.
  • NH 11 (11:50 AM to Narita):
    • Best Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday (all show nearly 100% new suites).
    • Avoid: Wednesday and Saturday (very low odds).
  • NH 111 (5:45 PM to Haneda):
    • Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Sunday (all 100% new suites).
    • Avoid: Monday and Saturday (lower odds).
Return Flights:

From Narita NH 012:
• Best Days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Sunday
• Avoid: Wednesday, Saturday

From Haneda (reverse of NH 112):
• Best Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday
• Avoid: Monday, Friday, Saturday

Im curious to compare my data of future flights to previous flights to see the level of accuracy. Does anyone know how to find that info?

Hope this post helps someone
