I spent $5K on the credit card a few days before the end of the year, and I had 98 nights. I was expecting those 2 nights to show up and push me to 100, but Hyatt reset the counter, and the nights aren't there yet.... Just give it time and wait for the award email?

They get applied retroactively to the previous year. Could take a few days, could take a few weeks, but rest assured it will happen if the spend took place in 2024. You will be able to select the 100 Night Milestone after it posts, youll likely get an email from Hyatt notifying you.

Nights will be “credited” to your 2024 nights 1-2 days after the credit card statement (date) which includes that $5k charge. Email should be received another 1-2 days later. (Although it wasn’t asked, the 5 TQN for having an open Hyatt personal credit card should post within the next day or 2.)

My wife has been quite ill over the last few months and as a result has had to cancel most of her work trips since October. The result is her Base Point balance for 2024 was only 70,000.
Previous years Base Points have been as follows:
2019 - 110,000
2020 - 24,000
2021 - 55,000
2022 - 280,000
2023 - 105,000
Her total lifetime base points is about 850,000.
What are the chances of persuading Hyatt to give her discretionary Globalist status for 2025?

Connecting room for suite upgrade?
Theoretically, I suppose it possible to have 2 connecting rooms upgraded but I think it's highly highly unlikely. Suites don't connect to other suites. Typically, a one king bed room connects to a double bed room, sometimes a junior suite (with a king bed) connects to a double bed. If anything, maybe upgrade both rooms to higher floors.
Properties will block off connecting rooms (at my request) to guarantee connecting rooms. They will not block off upgraded rooms. So, the room(s) have been pre-assigned/reserved me and at that point, I've lost the opportunity to have the rooms upgraded and connecting.
If you want connecting rooms, just book the appropriate connecting rooms and call the property to block the rooms for you. If you want an upgrade, book 2 non-connecting rooms and hope for the best at check-in. Can't have both, pick one.

Absolutely, excellent words to live by. I too have been fortunate in receiving points or miles or status for which I didn’t “officially” qualify. For that sort of request(s), if it’s important, I suggest full press; multiple phone calls and multiple emails/replies if necessary to get to the point where they say “yes” or you’re confident you’ve exhausted all levels of (their) decision making.
I was trying to make the point that for Hyatt specifically, I think the awarding of status that is not “earned” is low probability.
“Never hurts to ask (sometimes many times), worst they can do is say “no”, give them a chance to say “yes”.”

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but: I dont believe Hyatt embraces discretionary status of any kind thus I believe the chances to be slim or none* (hopefully you know what Slim just did
).

If OPs wife is losing status this February, and could get enrolled, then there would be no lapse.
My understanding is enrollment is evaluated on a case by case basis and generally only available to those who have been Globalists for several years.
If I were in OPs boat Id ask my MHC, Id ask Hyatt, Id ask Executives, I might even try to CEO. I wouldnt expect an automatic extension, but would just pray to be enrolled in such an offer. Even if youre sick, go book 20 nights at a Cat 1 check in then leave if you have to, ideally youd find properties you actually want to stay at, but thats one option.

Just checking to see if I understand here...I have a suite upgrade and the suite has a connecting room. Travelling with a 1 year old and 6 year old. Hyatt concierge is refusing to require the hotel to block off the rooms. They keep changing the reasons for this. First it was that you can't apply two benefits to the same reservation. Then it was that adding the adjoining room would change the type of suite and it would no longer be "standard". Does any of this make sense?

Re: block off the rooms, what do you mean? Block off as in prevent anyone else from checking into those rooms, block off as being empty, block off for you or your children to occupy? Which rooms, other rooms in the suite or a connecting room which can either be part of the suite or booked independently?

HI thanks. This is the Hyatt regency O'Hare. The room the suite we were upgraded to connects to is a standrard room. I checked with the hotel. It connects to a 2 double bed standard room.

Are you planning for you or your children to stay in the suite itself or in the connecting room?
