=========================================
In general about Royal Ambassador (re) qualification,
As per Tim O'Brien's post about IHG-corporate explaining RA criteria:
As you are aware,
Royal Ambassador is our invitation only tier with the number of members invited each year
limited to ensure our hotels are able to consistently deliver on the benefits promise,
elevating your stay experience at InterContinental Hotels & Resorts.

Although we do not currently have a published criteria for Royal Ambassador,
consideration is determined by variable activities within a members account such as
- qualified paid room nights & spend across our luxury brands
* Regent, Six Senses, Intercontinental, Kimpton
- member region,
- primary hotels,
- category (of the hotel class / $ price levels compared to currency rates / competition / city / region / country / continent )
- tenure (repeat custom / average spend at hotel)
Accompanying or adjoining reservations,
such as the additional rooms of your family etc are not included for Royal Ambassador consideration
but are included in determining Spire Elite status within IHG Rewards Club
.

-----------------------------

* FT:IHG forum community group consensus / empirical evidence showsm
- that members must have stayed at different unique hotels per city / country / region / continent
the amount of uniques needed for RA qualification is unknown but generally extended long stays at just 1 hotel do not qualify
- IHG-corporate showing keen interest in how much guests are spending $ at hotel's own operated F&B / Spa / transport / extra services / other venues. atacama40 has given us insights that extra spend at the hotel charged to the hotelfolio generates EQP but also flags the database as high valued spending guest
- one must have AMB to get considered for RA invitation by IHG as IHG collects its data via AMB as they seem to evaluate over a longer period the length of one's tenure / devotion / spend / undisclosed criteria at stayed IC-hotels
-----------------
Although from 2017,
LoyaltyLobby shows us the standard details/statistics per guest/IHG1rewards member that IHG tracks.
https://loyaltylobby.com/2017/03/06/...nfo-of-course/
IHG mentiones other undisclosed criteria that add to its decision to send out Royal Ambassador invitations

2025
For 2025,
it seems RA (re) qualification is done in 2 batches: NOV 2024 & JAN 2025
There are 12 requalified RA and 2 new RA that have joined us at timestamp 1 JAN 2025.
There are 1 requalified RA and 3 new RA that have joined us after timestamp 1 JAN 2025
A total of 13 requalified RA and 5 new RA for 2025 that have graciously shared their statistics on FT.

Total IC EQP: 290k. Out of these 290k EQPs,
46k are earned from stays booked from TAs : ihg luxury and lifestyle program (which gives EQNs and EQPs).
a few point nights at Regents, Kimptons, IC
Importantly, I used cashback sites for all my stays, except when booked from TAs.
So, spendings do count towards RA even if cashback sites are used.
I have relatively small amount of incidental spendings, but seldomly book the cheapest room.
In most cases I directly book club rooms / junior suites.
I have an IHG credit card and use it for all my stays.

The only other place on the internet that has an interest in RA (re)qualification statistics is at the comments at Loyaltylobby,
more 2023 RA datapoints can be found there:
https://loyaltylobby.com/2022/12/09/...re-your-stats/
https://loyaltylobby.com/2023/01/18/...re-your-stats/

Update 2023:
- it seems no new RA have been invited by IHG
- criteria for RA requalification are still unknown
- geographical location of member / country account registration seems of some impact due of covid19(restrictions/availability)
- RA is processed in weekly batches starting december 2022
- proof by nicolas75 shows RA qualification for 2024 seems to be strictly based on IC hotels only (not Regent, Kimpton, SixSenses anymore)

==============================================

Update 2020 / 2021:
RA status was extended due to the global pandemic of covid19

================================================== =======

Update 2019: The RA status granted at the start of the calendar year 2017 and 2018 has been based on IC revenue. As from 2019 criteria again have become vague. RA is not achieved through IC spend only. Other, unknown elements are taken into account as well. (Fact: Some users with very high +25k IC spend were not renewed in 2019.)

Update December 2018: it looks like some accounts are proactively being renewed in December 2018, well ahead of the stated expiration of Jan 31, 2019. It is currently unknown what criteria were used, but previous years appeared to indicate around $10K++ in IC spend only.

As before, please Divide EQPs by 10 to get $$$ Spend

Well, it was fun while it lasted.

I am, as of 1am in the morning, January 3rd, Paris time, a lowly Ambassador. With 21k$ accrued in ICs, I'd have thought I'd have a decent chance to make the cut. Anyway, Diamond AMB with lounge access is good enough that I won't change my business to another chain. So from a business point of view, they are right not to keep me in the flock since I won't go away anyway.

Among the funnier news...

For some unfathomable reason, my Diamond, which was shown to end at the end of 2025 -- as it should, since I had more than enough points in 2024, now displays:

Also, I'll wait for the mid-January round, maybe all isn't lost despite the downgrade being applied and the soft landing (Ambassador activation) visible in my account activity.

No need to say that I have accrued exactly 0 night and 0 point in 2025 that would have given me some sort of status valid until the end of next year.
Also, I just cashed a reward milestone I had gotten just before the end of the year, and I can confirm tha it still works as advertized and it is valid until the end of next year.

I don't think it's because of rollover. I think it's because IHG IT is broken, and anytime you "earn" something in a year, it's valid till the end of next - so if they had renewed his Diamond on Dec 31, it would be valid till end of 2025, and as it stands, it's until end of 2026 because it was on Jan 2.

I think you could be correct as yesterday my Diamond was to the end of this year and today my RA renewal posted and the Diamond has updated to 2026.

The number of my rollover night doesn't seem to be any inconsistency.

I don't think it's a rollover night thing. I think it's just a glitch. They obviously did something to my account manually, because:

This number does come out from nowhere. I finished the year with exactly 70 nights, so no roll over night, that's correct.

Got RA again, lost it 2020. Info showed up in my account on Jan, 2nd, 10pm (Vienna).
Have no detailled statistics.
300k EQP (+/- 70k IC, 70k Kimpton, 12k VOCO, ...). 42 paid nights total.

Got free RA night, but no F&B voucher.

Another data point

I just checked my account for some upcoming stays and noticed that I've now got Royal Ambassador and Kimpton Inner Circle status. I wasn't expecting it as this is my first year where I've stayed regularly at ICs and I only had a total of 31 nights at IHG hotels. I did have a few expensive stays and ended the year with about 250K EQP. I had 9 IC stays (5 different hotels) and 2 stays at the Kimpton Fitzroy. One lonely CP in Niagara Falls on Boxing Day!

No choice for Diamond amenity at IC Bordeaux

Just checked into IC Bordeaux and was welcomed as Royal Ambassador. When I asked for the drink voucher as my Diamond amenity, I was told that is not an option for RA. Since we already get free breakfast, we only get the 600 points. I said I'd prefer the drink voucher over 600 points and again was told since I'm RA, we only get the points.
I checked with Ambassador services and they said it's up to the hotel. I've never had this happen before. Most ICs have given me multiple drink vouchers as Diamond (in addition to the 600 points and the RA breakfast).
Has anyone else experienced this before?

Not as RA, but as Diamond Ambassador, at Regent HK I was explained that the in-room amenity (boxes with some snacks) are their kind of welcome amenity which is provided without any choice. They also appeared to feel quite confident with their way of providing the welcome amenity...

Exclamation Oh dear, RA t&c changes : part 2 early checkin ...

https://www.ihg.com/intercontinental...rms-conditions

As no none seems to have spotted this change .....

Royal Ambassador Benefits
  1. Royal Ambassador member benefits include:
  • Guaranteed early check-in of 10 a.m. on day of arrival.

* the line: if a RA's room is not available at check in time , hotel shall provide a temporary "hospitality" room has been erased

* interpertation bad: RA early check in is not part of guarenteed benefits compensation

* interpertation good : hotel must give RA early check in and there is no excuse because it is a guaranteed benefit

I'm posting this to inform my fellow RA as IC MIA's correspondence with me revealed a discrepancy:

--

Thank you for providing your estimated arrival time for 10:00AM, I have notated it on to your reservation. Also, thank you for being a loyal IHG Royal Ambassador, I have placed your request for early check-in on to your reservation. Please know that early check in is based on availability and cannot be guaranteed until our check-in time at 3:00PM. However, we will try our best to accommodate your request.

--

Which is ofcourse nonsense !

I might have missed it, but even as RA, we are not safe from resort fees!

These paragraphs are unchanged from last year.
Resort fee in here means Government, State, or City mandatory imposed fees/taxes, not hotel junk fee. The RA may still waive the hotel resort fee.

Just found this change out the hard way at IC Paris LG on 3 Jan 2025!
Arrived at 8am, anticipating at least a room by 10am to take a quick nap/shower . Figured I could have breakfast, champagne (a quick nap in one of the alcoves) in the lounge until 10am. Well, that didn't happen - was repeatedly told no rooms available, even as a temporary room. Finally, Giles was in the lounge at 12pm and was able to get me a temporary room around 1pm (a sitting room but at least I could shower/change clothes). My actual room was downgraded and wasn't even available until 430pm. When regular guests were probably getting in their rooms by 3pm. They kept saying "nothing available" but when I got to the hotel at 8am, there were plenty of people in line checking out. I have never had this problem at this hotel, otherwise, I would have booked a room for the night before.

Then I get to IC Bordeaux and they tell me I don't get a Diamond benefit since I'm RA and am already getting free breakfast.
So I think it's better to be a Diamond Ambassador at this hotel with free breakfast as your Diamond selection along with the $20 bar credit per stay as Ambassador. The RA welcome gift was lame - 2 canels (although they were delicious) but I'm sure Ambassadors receive the same.

Yeah, things are changing and not in a positive way.
