I wonder how many people will proudly display their GGL tags on their briefcases. Imagine going into work and bragging that you spent 65,000 GBP on travel in a time of cost cutting and ability to use Zoom.

I could not find the NTP threshold for GGL on BA webpage, while the other NTP thresholds are published there. I wonder if this information is still tentative? I also wonder if the 52k/32k on BA are really BA metal or BA marketed, also if they include their IAG full service sister IB (the current 4 BA flights can also be IB flights).

Such a shame - I made GGL during the 25% reduction and have kept it every year afterwards but it's been a pure hobby with some fun trips across the OW network, including the crazy AHU - CGK trip.

I usually hit about 3500 TPs from mainly ex EU fares with QR or AA.

Would be interesting to see what my previous runs would earn me in the new system - I can't really workout where it will land with the differences in %miles for some and revenue for others (including AA sharing base price I see, even ex-EU). Any takers lol...

Probably academic though if GGL needs 80% booked through BA (if that is true)...

Well, my tuppence worth as a leisure traveller who has GfL and currently GGL....

I was hoping to keep GGL one more year, and then rely on my GfL. I actually priced up a trip yesterday for next November, but didn't book it. I have got about half the TPs in the bag for GGL renewal, but there is no way I'm going to (or going to want to) spend the extortionate amount of needed to bridge the gap.

The real kicker for me will be when I'm travelling with my family - at the minute I can give my wife a Gold Card and/or guest the family in using the GGL lounge perk. It's a shame that I'll lose that, but the days of overnight trips to OTP to get TPs is now gone...

The BA FAQ now seems to have deleted references to GGL and GGLfL. GGLfL was listed as requiring 1,500,000 'new' TPs, but now there's no mention of it.

They will carry over your lifetime points proportionally though:
Your proportional progress towards the next Lifetime threshold will be carried over. For instance, if you’ve collected 50% of the Lifetime Tier Points required for Gold for Life, your new balance will equal 50% of the new threshold.

References to GGL remain, but GGLfL mentions have been deleted.

I have already qualified for GGL for another year from April 2025, and have been GGL for the past 6 years.

2025/26 will be my last with BA. I spend 45k a year with BA on personal travel, all out of my own pocket. BA clearly do not want a further 45k from me, and I in turn am not going to spend it just to be downgraded to Gold.

The revenue loss for BA on this change will be huge. For me, the changes remove the ONLY incentive for me to fly BA. That is, GGL and the ensuing Avios and CCR. I don't fly BA for punctuality, cabin comfort, or (sometimes) on board service - because I get none of those on a consistent basis from BA.

Qatar or Emirates for me next year.

This is all very new, but are there any gurus on here who can interpret my position now? My old year end was December, and I requalified for GGL. With the year-end reset, I was awarded 3080 tier points, for a year that now, of course, ends 31 March 2025, and my 'card' (ie status) expires at the end of Jan 2026. And after that I have no hope of ever getting GGL again, but I am, pleasingly GfL (assuming they don't find a way of removing it from low spenders such as myself).

What I don't know is whether the fact that I have over 3K tier points means I have requalified for a year beyond 31 March 2025, or not? In fact, by the end of January, I will be on around 4500 tier points, on trips I cannot cancel and which I had thought would see me good for a further year - ha ha!

But if anyone can answer/explain to me whether I will get anything from 1 April, on the basis that I am currently 'good' to 31 Jan 26, and my status says 'you have retained GGL' - does that mean I'm good, in fact, to 31 Mar 26?

They removed it from the first question about how many TPs you need, but the example for those who already have GFL still remains under the question below about conversions, still saying that 50k current TPs will convert to 750k new TPs.

it's not all bad...

On the upside, fortunately for those of us clinging on to GGL with our finger tips there will be new baggage tag bling to distinguish ourselves

Have you? I am in the same boat. BA have said they will convert TPs on a similar basis but I can see no guarantee that will be enough to renew GGL.

BAC - GGL Discussion (Inc Partner cards) (Applicable Apr 25 onwards)

Will partner card nominations be honoured between now and April? I cant see why they wouldnt be, but just a nagging doubt in my mind.

I'm sure they will, but a partner card nomination will become even more valuable to receive than it is now.

Yes - you're good for GGL until April 26
