I have already qualified for GGL for another year from April 2025, and have been GGL for the past 6 years.
2025/26 will be my last with BA. I spend £45k a year with BA on personal travel, all out of my own pocket. BA clearly do not want a further £45k from me, and I in turn am not going to spend it just to be downgraded to Gold.
The revenue loss for BA on this change will be huge. For me, the changes remove the ONLY incentive for me to fly BA. That is, GGL and the ensuing Avios and CCR. I don't fly BA for punctuality, cabin comfort, or (sometimes) on board service - because I get none of those on a consistent basis from BA.
Qatar or Emirates for me next year.
