Morning! I was using the Thai air app today to load up my bookings. My one that I booked with Thai air loaded no problem. I then tried my one that was booked originally with Thai smile. I have an email from Thai air stating the change of carrier with the ticket numbers and booking ref but that Thai air app isnt recognising them 😬😬 I cant seem to access their website as it keeps displaying a 503 error message 🤷🏻♀️ does anyone have any advice or a contact email?! Thank you
Have you tried the THAI Smile website?

I don't think is anything to worry about, I had a THAI Smile flight in January that saw a flurry of emails and about flights cancelled and then being a THAI flight number but operated by Smile etc etc. It never showed up on my THAI app, but everything worked just fine on the day.
Have you tried the THAI Smile website?

Anyone have tips on how to pre-secure emergency seating on Thai?
Particularly looking at 50a on some of the flights which are just behind emergency - but don't have a seat in front.
Happy to pay - but the seats look like being blocked. Can you call and request a few months out?

baggyred Much depends on your fare class. If a cheaper V/W fare, then you will only have access to the rear of the economy cabin at present - there are some ‘Preferred Seats’ (chargable) but they may be taken if you can’t see them as an option.
The seatmap opens up at T-48, so you ma be able to access the orward exit row/bulkhead seats at that time (for a fee).

Funny you asked this. On my recent flight HKT - BKK with Thai I've picked online second to last row as our seats. At the airport check in the agent offered to me emergency exit row seats as a star gold. I've declined and kept my original seats. During take off and landing I like to have my camera handy and I don't know if the Thai crew is tough on this things like the ME carriers are. During check in, I didn't see emergency exit row as option to select. If you can't get it online, try going early for your flight and ask for the seats. If they tell you not for free then you can inquire about the price at the desk.

Using Royal Orchid Plus Gold benefits from NZ
Dear Forum
I am based in NZ but have been a United 1K for 15 years (and also MM which gives lifetime Star Gold status, at least under current UA MileagePlus settings). I am thinking of switching to TG because the USD$24k spend to maintain 1K is not feasible (compared to when MileagePlus was distance based which gave an advantage to flying to and from NZ).
My target is ROP Gold, with the main benefit of interest being the annual upgrade of a roundtrip from economy to business. My question for any TG fliers based in NZ concerns how to actually implement this upgrade, given that TG is not currently flying to Auckland so I assume there is no local ticket office (in the past, ca.2017, when I flew TG from AKL I can remember visiting their office on the mezzanine floor at the airport). Who do you contact to check on upgrade available space because I would only want to book flights upgradeable at booking, as it is a long way to Europe in Economy. I would also happily receive any other observations from NZ-based TG fliers.
Thanks!

UA_1K_NZ - First, welcome to FlyerTalk. I am not NZ-based, but let me make some observations about ROP Gold status. This basically requires flying 50,000 qualifying miles in a 12 month period (not necessarily a calendar year). But discount economy fares may earn only 25% or 50% qualifying miles! Then a ROP Gold upgrade certificate is only valid for the member, and not for say a spouse. It requires a purchase of a mid-fare economy ticket and needs discount business class to be available. There are also taxes and booking fees. Once booked, there is a change fee. I have found GUP certificates difficult to use. They always require a phone call to Thai customer service, but availability can be checked on-line. Good luck. (I am also a former UA 1K member.)

There is a ticketing office available in Auckland via email [email protected]. Indeed I used them late last year to book SYD-BKK-LHR//FRA-BKK-MEL-AKL in Q class economy and then apply my Gold Upgrade (GUP).
Sadly, the cost of Q economy fares ex-NZ has become unreasonable and I am NZ Gold Elite. Rather sadly I fear than without a direct BKk-AKL service my status will soon fall. I think Flyingbiker is also a Nz-based TG frequent flyer.
Feel free to PM me with any specifics.

Looks like field Title (grey out) is not inputtable online so I could not make my contact info complete, which means I can't select seat online. How to fix this?
The ticket was booked on United.

The SAS website works for this too - well, at least until the leave for ScrapTeam later in the year..
