Many of those planes never even made it out of EWR as the inbound.

Looks like the plane that was supposed to be use for DXB to EWR has been sitting at DXB since June 30, so UA is down another aircraft for the foreseeable future.

I was on that. It was brutal. We were at end of runway ready for takeoff and then went back to gate. I think it was something with the fuel system, and they teased us a bit saying they would look for another plane, but around 15 minutes later, it was cancelled.

There was initially only one person in customer service at Polaris Lounge, and even though I was first in line, I went ahead be called 1K line while waiting, and after almost an hour, she got me on a very full SQ nonstop SFO-SIN that same night. Granted, premium economy and not the Polaris seat I left behind, but at least it salvages a business trip, albeit the first day will be rough! Will have to make sure I get my original routing credit for Premier qualification�

And, no, no good TYO options; flight didn’t cancel until almost 1:30. And the flight I’m on now was already very full. There was a similar SQ nonstop from LAX with business availability, but they wouldn’t/couldn’t get that for me. Goes without saying that the evening UA SIN flight was sold out already, and I was very tempted as first on the Polaris standby list to give that a shot and maintain my business seat but ultimately took the guaranteed seat on SQ, even in PE.

All those EU originating flights are going to cost UA a pretty penny in compensation for each pax.

For the day, cancellations UA mainline system wide is 2% but EWR airport is 10%/12% (WX ground stop and above MX issues)

it's ugly. Some issues appear 'understandable', but some are plain 'OMG' ...

More support for lack of arrival gates when departures are impacted.

they should get some stairs for that 752 and a bus ...

Complicated by the need to clear immigration and custom. Wondering if there is an emergency bus gate for arrival INTL pax by C3? Probably not given the plane didn't deplane until 3 hours+ after landing. If not, should really add it for situation like this.

Will UA get written up for being on the taxiway for more than 3 hrs, or does it not apply for arriving flights?

Anybody heard of this? At some point during multiple rebooking attempts (via the app), United removed my husband from our reservation and gave him a new PNR. So while I had 'protected' status when it came to finding a seat, he did not.

Yes this sometimes happen as trying to rebook irrops. However, a verbal request should correct the seating issue. The agents know how to handle this -- its the computer that messes up.

Every United agent we told seemed baffled by the problem. It ended up costing us our vacation, as we could never get hold of an agent who could fix it (this happened during last week's chaos at EWR). And the 30k miles Kirby is promising isn't anywhere near enough to compensate for it!

UA 142 NRT to DEN cancelled today 7/7. Looks like the inbound from EWR had a technical problem after leaving the gate.

quickly and easily rebooked on the app - looks like it forced PZ open because of the irrops. Everything is better when it�s a single flight and not a systemwide meltdown.

Due to the storms on the outbound we have taken not a single flight now on our original itinerary.

yep, PZ gets protected in the app during irops; they fixed that about a year ago
