Qatar have confirmed the presence of a policy whereby if a customer booked a QSuites flight and subsequently gets an aircraft type swap can you request travel on an alternative flight, subject to availability, see post #2709 Previously this included change of routing, now it only includes changing the date on the same routing. QR issued tickets only!
Qatar Airways confirms new business class seat

A video of the new Q Suite can be seen here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_yhZDsctiZg

Photos of the new Q Suite can be seen here - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/28007634-post109.html

From TGFlyerGirl:
there are some quite complex rules entries around seat selection - but in essence, solo travellers as a guideline won't be assigned QUADS (they are blocked off), and it's generally for 3/4 pax families. Once a QUAD has been broken up (out of necessity - for example with a couple in the E/F seats), then the rest of the quad is unlocked and can be filled with individual travellers.

They've also made 1A/2B last offered to allow airport flexibility to handle last minute requests. The other 18 windows and aisles are free for reservation as per the normal process.

The bassinet position is 11B/J (77W) and 8B/J (A359), reduced mobility seats are 2/4/6/9 B and J.

All A/E/F/K's are backward facing, all B,D,G,J's are forward facing. Total 20 Forward/22 Backward.

Capacity:
77W: J42/Y312
High density 77W: J24/Y388
77L: J42/Y230
35K: J46/Y281
359: J36/Y247

It would be a interesting legal fight for compensation, especially when the website does show a specific seat product at time of booking (QSuite in this case), but I doubt anybody would want to fight for that at courts in Qatar ;-)
I am not saying I would go to court. If I did, it would be here in the USA; That is the point of sale and point of origin. I think the legal argument (in theory) would be bait and switch. They specifically advertised my flight as 'QSuites'. Further, they would not be investing billions in removing 2-2-2 for QSuites if it was not a better experience. There is even an expanded menu and entertainment.

Again, not looking to sue. But, I think a flight credit of some order would be fair.

Unfortunately for you and everyone else, most flight tickets are sold on a per-class basis. You never buy a ticket for a specific J-product, only for J in general. True for QSuites, BA Club Suites, etc.

I totally agree with you and I am quite sure none of us will sue QR - we just continue flying because we know that the inflight experience / service is just great (most of the times), independent of QSuites or not …
But, a little bitter taste is left, considering the “habit” of showing QSuite product during the booking process, even QSuite not scheduled …

I asked the Platinum WhatsApp to put me on the A380 departing BKK one hour later, as “compensation” (so that I eventually could use my QCredits for upgrade to First) - there was even no discussion about, my “request” was just ignored …

This has been discussed ad nauseum in this thread and other threads.

For anyone interested in outbound Q Suite routes from the US, I recently put together the percent of flights over the past year that actually flew a Q Suite aircraft. Should hopefully make it less of a gamble for some people.

No, but some pretty clear patterns emerge.

I would argue, yes it does.

ATL/BOS - given its history, the lowest shot of QSuites on these routes if you were to fly this month.
DFW/IAH/JFK - as close as you can to a 'guarantee' of a QSuite.

Sure, Qatar could change their priorities, but month after month, these routes have been pretty consistent and therefore Qatar has not shown a propensity to change things up.

While not perfect, this is a great predictor.

I have an upcoming flight for YUL-DOH in February and have been tracking the aircraft as well.

The YUL route is close to 100% QSuites (at least in the past 1-2 months)
