I stayed there a few weeks ago and in 2 of the hotels the exchange rate USD-MXN was OK but in one it was ridiculous, and I told them that no way I would accept it.
At the end they allowed me to pay in USD but not in my Amex(Spain), it had to be a on a Visa or MasterCard.
How do I know what the rate is in pesos when by default I only see it in USD? I'm curious what the markup is on the Hilton app. Don't you prepay before you arrive at the hotel? Generally, the cheapest rate is a prepaid rate, which I charge to my Hilton Aspire, which is an AMEX.

Normally I book the semi-flexible rate which you may cancel up to 3 days before arrival(now some properties have increased this to 5 days ) and, at Check Out, I ask what exchange rate USD-MXN they will use.
In my last trip(around mid June) one hotel mentioned 20.90, another one 21.10 and the 3rd one 21.80, which I replied I would not accept.

Depends on the country and the hotel. In touristic areas of Mexico, they provide prices in USD. If you look in Merida, for example, you will have prices in Pesos.

The best answer is you dont untill it is time to settle the bill. This is a big problem for third world country hotels that book in USD and then convert to local currency. They seem to make up a rate. I have pressed this issue at several hotels in the past. It has always lead to a better rate. I once got 5 different answers with a lot of BS. I had all the possible data and nothing matched. The poor gal at check out was just doing her job and I told her so but I kind of laid into the Manager when he was called. He was a bit of a dick. In the end it saved me about 6% or $100. I then took the $100 and spread it out among different staff before I left.

Was surprised about the current pricing. Anyway, the Reforma is 100 times better than Airport hotel. But it depends on what you're up to. If you just have a layover and don't want to leave airport, the Airport hotel is OK.

I stayed at Hilton ONCE and getting from terminal 2 to terminal 1 was a complete

Was a complete NIGHTMARE!!!
returning to terminal one was not too bad because they have a shuttle.
however dont assume it runs super early in the morning. Also perhaps you can find out if the shuttle Does pick up at terminal2. Best bet your answer in writing though. NH is a million times easier

It's also usually pretty expensive relative to hotels in the city.

That said, I've had some early AM flights out of MEX and one of the only benefits is that there is no traffic at that time of day, so you can easily get from Polanco, Roma Norte, etc. to the airport in a flash.

Dated property, not really value for money

HIlton Mexico City Airport

Dated property, not really value for money (10 Photos)

HIlton Mexico City Airport

i stayed at this property for 1 night - had late afternoon arrival and did not really want to go down all the way to the centre on this overnightconnection in Mexico City with bags - therefore I selected this property.

IMG_20221124_201140327.jpg

Location

This property is situated in Terminal 1 of the airport itself, however it sems like the hotel is not interested to let it's guest know or anyone looking for it of the location - it was close to impossible to find with zero signage at the airport arrival floor. I initialy used Googlemap to locate it, but it was just impossible to find any signage for the entrance. I had to resort to asking different people and managed to get to the hotel via the parking lot area.

For those coming via this route, you will have to use the phone next to the door to call reception so that someone will come and open the door. I found out the next day in order to access the hotel - one will have to take a lift up which is located in some hidden passageway opposite gate 8 on the arrivals level (or in some maze like area from the departure level).

Outside of that, if one is adventurous, using the bridge towards the airtrain to Terminal 2, there is are some small local shops in the vicinity and slightly further afield (about 10-15 mins from this bridge. Of course there is also the airport metro station at the end of this long terminal which one can take directly towards the city centre.

They do provide a shuttle if you are coming from T2, but for those who do not want to wait for it, one will need to take the train/bus to T1 and walk from there to the property.

Check In

The check-in process was ok - with a rather uninterested front desk staff. There was only 1 staff working that evening (and it seems to be the case even during the day time from my observation). There was 2 other persons before me but for some reason it took about 10 mins before it was my turn.

As mentioned, not much interest and was checked in without any smile nor eye contact at all. I was just given information about my benefits as an elite member. One small advantage of this property is outside of the breakfast, they did provide a welcome drink for elite members - I was told anything from the bar.

Room

The hotel even though consisting of just 1 level of rooms, the numbering of the rooms are quite odd, with still rooms starting from 100 to 300 ranges. It was very clear that the hotel was dated even from the lobby area and the hallways - seems like nothing has been done since it was built. There seems to be some ongoing construction/renovation ongoing - maybe some hope that the hotel is renovating?

IMG_20221124_213251886.jpg

Anyway, the hallways were not very inviting (with some being sprayed with too much deodorizer). The room itself, was ok in size, but outside of that, it was very dated and truthfully not inviting at all. The room faced towards some the courtyard of the terminal with a restaurant at the bottom and view of some airline offices. Other than that the room was quite bare basics from interior decoration - with even the sole picture frame had one corner loose.

IMG_20221124_203722015.jpg

IMG_20221124_202149104.jpg

There was a working desk which was connected to what was the TV stand/cabinet. On this was a former area for the minibar (which is now an empty space) and the tea/coffee making amenities - which was basically a coffee filter machine like those in US hotels. At the corner of the room was a single seater.

Internet speed was ok and was rather stable. The TV channels were one of the worst I have seen especially for an international hotel - there was only 3-4 options and most were mainly local channels. The climate control in the room did work - and luckily not too loud. Sleep quality was ok - though initially although facing the courtyard, the announcements from the departure area was audible but luckily not too loud.

IMG_20221124_203008275.jpg

The bathroom area - was exactly designed like those in the US with the washbasin opposite the wardrobe (which had a safe deposit box). The size was on the smaller side, as to close the door, one would need to step aside towrds the corner. There was only a bathtub - with the shower operation like those in the US. Shower pressure and temperature was OK. The toiletries provided were the usual Crabtree & Evelyn brand.

IMG_20221124_203003094.jpg

Overall

All in all, I feel that this property is not really up to standard as a Hilton, very dated and service level was not really there - however this is also frequently an issue at quite a number of US properties. However the only reason I would not really recommend this property is the high price requested for a stay - which certainly is not value for money. I guess that they can do this just because it is located in the terminal compared to other hotels in the vicinity which needs a ride via shuttle or taxi.

Fully agree to the previous post and confirms my impression also after 2 years. Nothing changed there.

Hi,
I recently had a 1 night stay here (just after arriving late at night). Here's a quick update on this property since my last stay last year.

Pros:
- seems like all the rooms have been refurbished and it's so much better now compared to the old rooms.
- I was upgraded to a Deluxe room
- shower area improved with good pressure and water control, also happy to see that they have now a handshower included as an option.
- the hotel provided non-standard Hilton toiletries, looks like some local brand, which did the job
- not sure if it was only because it's a deluxe room, there was a Nespresso system provided
- the bar area seemed to have also had a refresh of furnitures

Cons:
- the number of front desk staff is still lacking to accommodate the surge in arriving guests (I waited close to 15 mins after arriving at the front desk)
- lots of construction ongoing at the area where one take the lift to the hotel - only 1 lift was working, and it was only limited to 3 persons. There was a line for the lift, waited about 15 mins
- the breakfast area seems to be undergoing renovation, so the bar area served as the replacement for now - which is not an issue. Only cold buffet and the hot items are based on a menu provided. Quality was ok
- room is still very dark - without any option to have a brighter room
- room deco was very basic
- clearly the workmanship seems to be lacking - noticed edges of the floor carpeting already showing wear and tear at the edges, the shower area glass door, does not stay in place and tends to slide back open

Here's are some photos of these renovated room

Bed

Workdesk

Room entrance

Only deco in the room

Cheers!

There's shuttle between T1 and T2? I am not aware of any.. AeroTren was very convenient but they will ask you for proof such as an airline ticket or a compelling reason to be at T1. Mine was because the hotel was next to T1. She actually paused then let me through.

The website does quote a shuttle which I can only assume is for T2. But I will probably stick with the AeroTren because I know how to walk to the hotel from the station lol

It seems the hotel is no longer accepting reservations after June 9th. I am down in MEX on the 10th.. and I like to plan ahead.. but there's nothing! All the other hotels appear so I may go for the Reforma instead as Umbral is charging $600 a night! I paid $90 when I stayed there last year and got upgraded to a lovely suite with black walls all around!

we got denied for the AeroTren with a hotel reservation. Said you needed a ticket.

called the hotel and asked for the shuttle. They said the shuttle only goes from hotel toT2, not back, LOL

I know, that's why I mentioned she actually paused. She was very hesitant to let me through. I think I was lucky.
