Paris
Going to Paris in March. 1st time. Have reserv. at Prince de Galles Hotel. It is not mentioned in either Frommer's or Fodor's Guides but the 4 Seasons George V is listed at 31 Av. Geo. V in both. P de G is at 33 Av. Geo. V on SPG website. Descriptions show both as high end and both opened in 1928. Are these 2 separate hotels next door to each other or is this one hotel with a name change? Any comments on the P de G? It looks nice on SPG.

The Four Seasons Hotel George V and The Prince de Galles are two separate hotels, managed by two different companies, and are located next to eachother on Avenue George V. However, this is where the similarities end -- the Four Seasons George V is light years better than its neighbour in terms of service, comfort, amenities, and prices. It is, usually, difficult to get a room at the George V for under 600 Euro a night -- though there are/have been exceptions.
If you do a search of the Four Seasons George V in this, and the Paris, fora you will find much has been written about this property. I am unabashedly a huge fan of this property and Institutional Investor ranked it the world's top hotel in their annual survey.
The Prince de Galles is supposedly a decent hotel though most seem to agree that it is not a luxury hotel. This hotel has been discussed in the Starwood forum and a search there should give you many results. The latest thread on this hotel is the ridiculous high speed internet access fees, a whopping 50 Euro for 24 hours access.
I hope you enjoy your trip to Paris. Cheers,

4 Seasons George V - A great hotel. Very expensive. I would also recomend Park Hyatt. Ask for a room with balcony. Enjoy your stay. Let me know if you need anything else in Paris.

Mrakant.......Thank you too for your offer. Have better part of 4 days (arrive early Fri., depart 6 PM Mon.) to tour around Paris. Other than main attractions (Arc de Triomphe, Louvre, etc.), looking to find maximum use of that time. My daughter (24) going with me. She loves history (me too). Should we look for a land tour or wander around on our own? Don't know a word of French.
Have the P de G on Starwood points, so plan to stay with that as long as it is a nice hotel. Although it may not be up to the 4 Seas. Geo. V, is it in a league with the St. Regis in DC or the Palace in SF? Starwood thinks so. I like them.

Take a land tour and if you like something go on your own. Take a good digital camera. You can buy alain mikili frames, great perfumes and Hermes is cheaper. Personally I eat at small places and avoid big names. PM me if you want anything specific. Be careful of pickpockets.
Paris vision offers bus tours. I like their paris illumination tour. Hop on and hop off is better day time bet. Buy two day tickets cheaper.
Canauxrama offers great canal cruise from place de la Bastile eanding at Bassin de la Villette.
Paris walking tours highly recomended
For BF i would recomend Pourjauran bakery 112 rue St. Dominique in Rue Cler area
For a splurge Le Bourdonnais one michelin star 01 47 05 47 96.
Enjoy your stay....Arun

If you're staying on points, then it will be fine, especially if you're a platinum who gets an upgrade to a suite.
Calling it a luxury hotel is a stretch.

I second Poujaran - fabulous bread. In that area, also try Millet, a patisserie. Poilene is also great. Unfortunately, I don't have their addresses. For a truly magnificent restaurant, I recommend Pierre Gagnaire - Michelin 3 star (and IMO one of the best in France). Also, Timgad (used to have one, now I believe nothing) is great Moroccan.

OT:Splurging in Paris
For a splurge meal, I definately second Pierre Gagnaire. Roderick Levejac, the Head Concierge at the Four Seasons George V and General Secretary of Les Clefs D'Or International, told me that if he had only one meal to enjoy in Paris, Pierre Gagnaire would be his choice. For everyday fare he sent us to Quincy and Chez Henri, Moulin a Vent.
For a splurge Le Cinq, the dining room of the Four Seasons next door has a prix fixe lunch for about 80 Euro which is a good deal compared to other Michelin 3 star restaurants and for the food you will be treated to under Executive Chef Phillipe Legendre. Les Ambassadeurs in the Hotel de Crillon is also wonderful -- the lunch time prix fixe (I believe around 70 Euro) is also a good deal and the room, with lovely views of the Place de la Concorde is spectacular. The current hot tables according to Roderic are Chiberta and L'Astrance.
You may also want to try L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon or La Table de Joel Robuchon where you can make reservations. Spoon, Food, and Wine by Alain Ducasse is really fun if you are a genuine foodie; Jean-George Vongerichten's Market is also great for lunch.
Paris is a wonderful city -- I am sure you will enjoy it. Don't worry about not knowing french. Just remember "merci" --thank you and you should be just fine!!
