In addition to increasing credit amounts across the lifestyle and full-service brands, Hilton Honors is extending the complimentary Daily Food & Beverage Credit into 2022 and will continue to evaluate this benefit to make the best decisions for our members going forward.
- The credit does not accumulate over the duration of your stay. For instance, if you stay for 2 nights at a $15/night property, you cannot use the benefit toward a single $30 purchase at one time.
- Thus, the credit for a given day may only be used on that day. It expires afterward.
- Unfortunately, Hilton has offered no clear explanation of what qualifies as a "day." (FAQ 24 purports to give an answer, but makes no sense.)
- Some properties reportedly apply a "calendar day" rule. For a stay arriving Monday and departing Wednesday (two nights, ergo two credits), this means the credit is available only on Monday (first credit) and Tuesday (second credit), with no option for breakfast use on Wednesday.
- Other properties don't use midnight as the cutoff, but instead allow use of a day's credit until the bar/restaurant closes, even if that occurs early the next calendar day (say, 1am). This interpretation also precludes use for breakfast on the day of departure.
- Neither of these approaches makes logical sense, given that on a one-night stay the credit may be used either on day of arrival or day of departure, per FAQ 8.
- A few properties reportedly use the standard checkin or checkout time as the dividing line: guest arriving Monday has until noon or 3pm Tuesday to use the first day's credit (or whatever the checkin/checkout times for that property are).

That's right plus Hilton is rolling over nights so would make sense for people to just start giving all their business to Hyatt since they'll still be diamond with Hilton anyway if the breakfast benefit is that important.
I'd rather see Hilton give a guaranteed late check out if they are going to continue this breakfast benefit so they can remain competative with Hyatt and Marriott.

Have you actually run into an issue with saying there are two people in a room but the hotel only giving credit for one person? As a matter of course I always say there are two people in my room, though often a second person never shows up ...

I suppose not everyone has quite the same moral/ethical line in the sand on this. Without judging those who do otherwise, I would personally have a hard time registering two guests if the sole reason was to game the F&B system. Im suspect Im in the minority, but Im also certain Im not the only one.

Currently at the Hilton Anaheim. In June, prior to the brand rollout of the F&B credit, they were giving Diamonds a $15 credit that could be used in the lobby Starbucks. Its now the brand standard $12.
They were all pleased yesterday to tell me all about We recently changed our breakfast benefit to offer you more flexibility, you receive a $12 daily food and beverage credit per person up to two guests. I didnt bother explain that this was a downgrade from my June stay.
I do notice that at this particular location, they will extend the credit to up to two rooms on the same reservation, up to two people per room.
As of today, the restaurant has reopened (although I dont know what the menu looks like.) The Starbucks prices are pretty inflated: $4.50 for a grande drip, $5.50 for a muffin, and $3.50 for three petite scones. $24.24 for two of us, plus a $3 tip. Out the door for $3.24.

Should the credit not be $15 rather than $12 as I thought Los Angeles was included in the higer rate ( looking at the wiki it says County of Los Angeles so would that exclude Anaheim?)
I'm grateful that due to the travel restrictions I have not had to deal with this nonsense this year ( would normally be in the US 2 or three times ). Hope this improves next year and does not spread to UK/Europe etc

This is such a needlessly convoluted system. If they wanted to do it like this, they should guarantee certain items across locations regardless of price. But that would require Hilton to enforce a standard to franchises ("you must stock these items") which is unlikely to ever happen.

I suppose not everyone has quite the same moral/ethical line in the sand on this. Without judging those who do otherwise, I would personally have a hard time registering two guests if the sole reason was to game the F&B system. Im suspect Im in the minority, but Im also certain Im not the only one.

I always book for two even when it's a solo trip and don't feel guilty about it. I look at it like I'm paying the same rate as if I had two people in the room and not costing Hilton as much in housekeeping expenses. Most of my stays are business stays at a higher room rate than a lot of people that have the status through a credit card on lesiure travel. Plenty of leisure travels have taken advantage of free breakfast for family members when the T&C state is only for two guests.
Hilton should just make it per room instead of per guest to simplify things. Wouldn't surprise me though if this new benefit continues if they just start charging for additional guests in the room to cover the cost of the additional credit.

Much like I'm willing to do 74 in a 65 on the way to work this morning (nine your fine, ten you're mine, right?), I'm willing to put down 2 guests in the room I reserved at a Hilton hotel this morning when I know there will only be 1, it will pay for an over-priced beer in the bar before I head to bed. If Hilton is going to play dumb games with free breakfast benefits, I really have no issue extracting what value I can to how they changed it.
Funny thing is that breakfast at most of these places isn't....good. go back 18 months and everyone is complaining about how crappy the powdered eggs and translucent bacon are. [Removed overly personalized off-topic remarks]

The thread is now re-open to discuss your experiences with and thoughts about the credit. Going forward this FlyerTalk Rule is specifically cited: "Supporting, encouraging or promoting illegal activity or fraud upon an individual or company is prohibited." This will include posts advocating lying to a Hilton property about the number of guests. Such posts will be removed and the poster subject to possible disciplinary consequences. Thank you.

Something I wish Hilton do would do is have a stated policy if the restaurant at the property isn't open and they can't provide any breakfast benefit. Like how HGI does if you want points instead of breakfast.
I stayed at the Distrikt in NYC the first weekend they reopened last month (great stay for the rate since they waived the uban fee and staying there Thanksgiving weekend again) and no restaurant at all so they did waived the "urban fee" since one of the benefits was two drinks a day at the bar and the gym was closed (I'd rather just skip the drinks anyway and no pay the urben fee and the gym access is a diamond benefit anyway) and when I complained about breakfast gave me 10K extra points. This was a three night stay and planet of better places in NYC to eat breakfast at and I rarely used the Hilton breakfast anymore since the DT Times square and Times Square hilton are both closed for good, plenty of better places in NYC to eat at. My room was booked for two and a good friend of mine who is only gold stayed only two nights last weekend and booked the room for one at a little cheaper rate and received 15K points. So they gave a lower tier, staying one night less and for only person in the room more points. If restaurant is still closed wonder how many points they'll give me this time for a two night stay at a similar rate per night as last month..
If the restaurant is closed they should base the points on how much the credit would have been and you shouldn't have to ask for it.
