It looks me like IF you arrive from UK, you can enter.

Yup, we are all arriving from the UK. Have been here since mid-March. Two of us have residence permits in the UK.

On the way back you may have problems transiting via Frankfurt, as there are direct flights available.

https://www.auswaertiges-amt.de/en/coronavirus/2317268

Citizens of EU member states and their families, as well as citizens of the United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland and their families are allowed to travel through Germany to reach their home country if no other travel connection is possible. They will also be allowed to enter if their home or legal residence is in Germany. Other people may be rejected entry, if they cannot provide proof of urgent reasons for their entry. Please refer to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, Building and Community for details.
Here is a useful list of entry restrictions:
https://www.iatatravelcentre.com/int...1580226297.htm

There is also a reasonable chance you would need to quarantine yourself for 14 days when you arrive back in the UK (not currently required, but discussed).

The LH HON line confirmed I can transit through FRA. They couldn't confirm ZRH and said I had to contact Swiss or the Swiss embassy.

Swiss confirmed I can transit through ZRH.

(Just updating this thread so others know in case they want info).

Other useful info:
1) Lounges are closed. Obvious, but just in case you were curious.
2) No HON limo service (although wonder if there's an exception in case in danger of missing connection).

Interesting. Given this is the opposite of Germany's published rules (which the Lufthansa's website links to), I still see a risk.

I am also not sure if a face mask (mouth and nose cover) is now legally required in Frankfurt Airport, at least outside the airport it is.

I am almost certain the LH Hon line would know the answer to the question, which is why I asked. They have to be getting the same question literally every hour.

My experience transiting FRA (coming from ARN) on March 29 was that there were a couple of border police directly at the gate checking all passengers' passports. When I came up, the officer looked at my passport, asked whether I'm in transit on my way home, I said yes – that was it. I saw that quite a few other passengers (I presume everyone who didn't answer yes ) was escorted somewhere else after the plane was fully de-boarded, probably for some kind of background check where there's a computer/passport scanner. In any case, I wouldn't worry about the Swedes, but still bring any documentation that you have.

As you say, lounges are obviously closed. In fact FRA was eerily quiet, empty hallways, conveyor belts turned off and except one bakery or so next to the LH Service Center, nothing was open.

Thanks that’s very helpful.

re the return quarantine, I’m not putting a lot of stock into that right now.

Based on all the documentation in the previous posts, your travel companion without being resident in Europe will not be capable to transit through FRA or even board the aircraft in the UK.

Nope, according to the LH HON line he can transit through Frankfurt. Just can't enter the country. They were unequivocal about this.

Edit: It's not a huge deal if they turn him away. I can just put him on the SAS flight direct that morning if things turn south. Right now the ticket on Swiss is 150 GBP or so and 400+ on SAS, but if we have to bite that bullet so he can join that's fine.

BTW, when I say "nope," I'm just relating your statements to what I have learned. Obviously, ultimately, the experience we have when/if we travel will prevail. But I'm happy to take one for the team for FT, as I have done so previously ;-)

These are unpredictable times, laws and rules can change at anytime. So you take a risk while traveling during these times unless you are government or embassy staff and it is essential travel.

I suggest pay the price and fly direct and also minimize your exposure in airports, transit and planes. Also I know that LH lounges in FRA are closed not sure if all are closed. Only 3 lounges are open at the moment. Good luck.

Agree with the other posters, I would 100% fly direct.

Im not at all scared of the actual virus, but there are too many issues that could come up with border control, cancelled flights etc... imagine getting stuck at FRA and not being able to enter the country?
