Doesn't your account or card say "status until" somewhere?

Would be interested to find out - does anyone know if the status re-set will include a "soft landing" (to the status below current status) even if zero stays have been made in the current year?

This has been discussed in another thread and the conclusion was that soft landings are a published benefit in Bonvoy. However, I would advise you to check whether zero nights/stay credits during the year could create an exception.

Editions are under the same rules as Ritz Carltons, possible upgrades for Titaniums and above but no breakfast, lounge, etc. so no benefits for Plat anyway.

Love the Edition. However, I would not plan on many elite benefits

Reset Dates for memberships

Just got my 50 days (today) with Marriott and I was told by the guy at the check desk that my status will be reset on the 1st of Jan. I wasn't quite sure what he ment but I think he ment that I have achieved Platium Elite (when the app updates) but only for a few days and when the 1st of Jan comes, I will go back down to no status and work my way back up next year ? I wouldn't have thought this would be the case becasue airlines have a "soft landing" which should land me back to Gold ? Anyway, I am not sure how it works which is why I am asking.

So since I am now technically PE, when 1st of Jan hits, would I still be PE (but with stays set back to 0) or will I be a non status member and need to work up the tiers again ?

Also, out of interest, would I normally be eligible to be upgraded to a suite (if available) even if I stayed the cheapest room ? (or is the upgrade fixed at 1 room above the one I am currently booked at?8)

Are you saying you've just hit Platinum from staying 50 nights? If so, your status will remain as Platinum throughout the whole of next year (status is valid for the year earned and also the following calendar year), congratulations. Even then, Marriott status doesn't end on 31st December just like that, you have up until 31st of December to earn your nights / stays, but unless Marriott has changed the rules this year you are given a grace period until 31st of January before your status expires. Marriott has historically offered soft landings too but I don't think we've had any official confirmation if that will continue this year or not (this won't be relevant for you until January 2021 anyway).

Yes, you will be eligible for an upgrade to a standard suite, if available, as long as you book a publicly available rate directly through a Marriott channel. Be aware that implementation of this may vary and many hotels will have a lot more elites staying than suites available, but those are the rules.

If you achieved 50 elite qualifying nights in 2019, you will have Platinum Elite status for the remainder of 2019, for all of 2020, and for the first month of 2021.

This has nothing to do with a soft landing. A soft landing could come into play if you fail to achieve 50 elite qualifying nights in 2020.

Because you achieved 50 nights in 2019, you will also be able to pick an Annual Choice Benefit, such a 5 Suite Night Awards good through the end of 2020.

The counter resets to zero at the beginning of each year. But that doesn't mean everyone's status gets revoked.

Promo end date

I have a quick question regarding the Unlock More promotion which requires 6 stays by January 14 for 15k pts. If a stay straddles the promo end date (i.e. check-in Jan 13, check-out Jan 17) does this count as a valid stay for the promo? I would assume so but there are no FAQs or Ts&Cs I can find to specifically address this. If anyone can say for sure then great.

Merry Christmas!

Hi Elevate,

Yes, the stay which checks in on January 13 and checks out on January 17, 2020 will count, as long as it meets the criteria of the promotion.

Merry Christmas.

There are only 2 stages to this promo which is why you didn't get a third offer. No one did.

Also, this is not the correct thread to be discussing the Q4 promo. Here is the correct one:

2019 Q4 Global Promo : 'Unlock More' (29 Oct 19 - 14 Jan 20)

Never listen to what an FDA says about how the program works. They have no clue beyond elite benefits at check-in.
