Platinum Amenities
  • Breakfast in Alba Restaurant
  • Daily fruit basket
  • 4pm late checkout if available

Tips on Availability
Award availability (and availability in general) seems to now be loaded in a week at a time (1 year minus two weeks on Saturday night around midnight ET) rather than day by day as it seemed to be previously.

Arrival information
  • All arrangements for travel to the island must be arranged through [email protected] at least 72 hours in advance.
  • St. Regis Airport Butler will escort guests to the seaplane terminal StR lounge in the comfort of a luxury car or van. The lounge includes drinks and light snacks, WiFi and kids toys.
  • Seaplane schedules are determined one day before arrival or departure and flights take place only from 6am to 3:30pm. The resort does not control the scheduling or arrangements of seaplane flights. This is completely under the control of Trans Maldivian Airways.
  • Guests arriving after 4pm will have to stay overnight on Hulhumale or Male and travel by seaplane the next morning.
  • The maximum baggage allowance per person is 30kg; excess baggage will be charged an additional fee of $6/kg. You can leave your baggage at the airport for $6/day.
  • Fee: $870 roundtrip per person, tax included. Children from 2-11 years pay $449. Complimentary for children under 2 years of age.
  • Travel Time: 45 minutes (one way)
Villa Categories
Note this is not a complete list and is only for the lowest 5 room categories:
  • Base Room is the GV (Garden Villa)
  • Then OWV (Over Water Villa)
  • Then BV (Beach Villa)
  • Then Panoramic OWV
  • Then Sunset OWV
See resort map below.

Regular OWV are (A) 501-507, 509-517, facing into the island. You get a warmer pool compared to Panoramic OWV but less privacy as the higher number rooms can be seen from the island.
Panoramic OWV are (B) 523-525, 527-529 facing out to sea to the north. You get the privacy BUT you will have a chilly pool.

Sunset OWV are (C) 530-534, 536-544 with the higher numbers facing the Whale Bar. The sunsets are spectacular and your pool will be warmest of the three.

Never heard of this. Are there other properties where you have to pay a service charge on points redemptions?

Cannot check W or St.Regis because points redemptions are not available online as far as I know. For Sheraton I am not sure where you see this. There is a boat transfer charged on top of 20k pts but no service charge!?

St. Regis says the change is due to tax regulation, and they have to show taxes and service charges separately. I've reached out to determine if points cover the SC now or not, as it was definitely included before. For Sheraton in November here's what I see:

Base room rate excludes
  • BOAT TRANSFER of USD 136 Per Person / Per Stay
  • SERVICE CHARGE of USD 34 Per Room / Per Night

I'll let you know what their response is to whether or not it is covered by points.

They responded that the service charge for the room is covered on points. It looks like sheraton shows it in error in one place, but not on the actual booking page.
So, in summary there's no change.

So seems like the leaked T&C were right and the StR is bookable on points but the W is not. Additionally only garden villa is bookable on points and there are just 4 of those in the resort.

I'd recommend booking those with cash as guest right now and then adding SPG number & converting booking to points once systems are live. Better act fast as I can see the availability quickly vanishing for any 5-nights period.

How do you know only one garden villa will be available on points?

On dates where garden villas are sold out, award stays show up as sold out as well.

Id rather take garden villa at 16k SPG rather than OVW for 58k. Then you can always negotiate a paid upgrade or maybe talk your way into the OVW.

That's true, but how do you know there is only 1 bookable on points? I see availability as long as it's not sold out, so doesn't that mean anywhere from 1 - 4 could be bookable on points?

EDIT: My bad, I misread your post - I thought you said only ONE villa was bookable on points
