In case anyone is wondering, BOS does not take walk-ins. There's no reception, no counter, just a locked door and a row of seats in the hallway. Sign says to have a seat, and wait to be called.
I was in and out within 8 mins. No video, no kiosk tutorial. Just an interview with the regular questions and verification of application info, photo and fingerprints. The kiosk tutorial has been replaced by a bi-fold business card. Received approval email after 10 minutes.

There do seem to be cancellations. I've literally just managed to reschedule my booked July appointment to one in early April.

SLC April 2016 Thursdays OPEN !!!
FLASH - SLC has very limited availability but I see every Thursday in April has an opening. This is new. Perhaps they were previously not scheduling those days - too many openings to be cancellations.
Score for me since I have a May international departure and my original appointment was after my return.

My home airport is RNO, where there are no GE interviews. In Feb., I had a flight to LAX, and tried to schedule an interview either there or in Long Beach. To my surprise, no appointments were available at either site on the day of my flight. I tried to do a walk-in at LAX, since I had left my entire morning open for the interview, but there was a sign saying "no walkins" and, just as I read the sign, an officer saw me, and confirmed that they wouldn't take mercy on me.
Fortunately, I was able to schedule another trip to ABQ in March, and the schedule there was wide-open. I was able to schedule easily, and arrived at my appointment an hour early because I wanted to be sure I'd returned my rental car and checked by baggage for the flight home, and had been anxious about getting to my appointment on time .
I signed in, and settled into the waiting room with a book to read, but an officer called me back an hour early, since I was there.
The interview was brief and simply confirmed information on my application, I was photographed and fingerprints were taken, and then the officer told me that I'd received a card in the mail in about two weeks. Within a few minutes, I'd received an email informing me that my application status had changed ( with a code to enter when making airline reservations), and the card arrived in the mail within about 5 days!
Cudos to the staff at ABQ! Couldn't have been nicer!

SLC appointments are backed out to July. I previously posted that some April Thursday dates had opened. They are now apparently all filled, but I got mine!

Will they take kids as walk-ins at a parent's appointment?
My family received the pre-approval letters, but the appointments are backed up by 4 months in Los Angeles, and we're traveling in early June.
I've been checking frequently on the GOES site and was able to get one appointment next week for myself at LAX.
I'm considering taking my 13 year old son with me to my appointment next week and hoping that they'll process him along with me, even though I can't get another appointment for him at that time.
Does anyone have experience with doing this - taking along a kid to the parent's appointment at LAX and having them process the child as a walk-in, since he's with the parent?

Bowling Green office you can't even get up to without an appointment. That was my experience two years ago.
